Describe your style and approach to being a wedding videographer. - I think on the day you have to look smart and professional.. I have seen other videographers at weddings in t-shirts and a fleece and I think it is almost offensive to the couple… always get along with and appreciate that other suppliers have to do their job as well on the day, and respect that. Its been said 1000 times but try to be unobtrusive and friendly. I think that wedding films should be about the couples love for each other, and their families love for them on this great day. I think that the photography and videography share similar goals that the couple should be filmed in a flattering manner, and therefore I think it is very important that a videographer knows inside out posing, lighting and composition to flatter people and make them look their very best. In addition the videographer must understand film making techniques that many top guys in the industry miss, to create high end films with motivated camera movements, transitions and correct shutter speeds to create perfect motion blur. Along this theme I think wedding films should reflect romantic feature films and not music videos. I try to avoid the current trend for speed ramps or glitch transitions, or super high pace shots, which I think are more about showing off the film makers skills than flattering the couple or capturing the emotions of the day. I also think the more stylised something is the more it will date it… and people will look back at things like that and laugh. Beautiful light has not dated for hundreds of years. I think as the level of videography goes up, it will follow photography that we will have to demand more time with the couple and direct them and some of the day.
