What is your most memorable wedding?
It was Neil and Suzie's. They were particularly well organised and friendly. Conversations led to me helping with Bridesmaids dresses, adding embroidered names & dates to Teddy sweaters, making Page-boys waistcoats, and giving lots of wedding-related advice. They had 2 different wording sets for Day Invitations, Evening Invitations, Place Cards, Seating Plan, Menus, Favours and a Guest Book. I thoroughly enjoyed their company and was welcomed into their home like a member of the family.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Hand-crafted. Simple, ecclectic or chique - your choice is my style!
What about your business are you most proud of?
I began with nothing and am now award nominated and magazine 'expert'
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Plan first before you look, and don't get carried away by 'sales-talk'!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I was asked to decorate a basket of refresher toiletries for the couple to provide in the Venue Bathrooms - a lovely thought.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Most couples make first contact either at Wedding Fayres or via email. After an initial chat we arrange a free Consultation at the home of the couple (or their parents) to discuss what styles and colours they are considering and what kind of elements they would like to incorporate. I like to spend time listening, too, as this helps me get to know the couple. (I ultimately want 'Aunt Betty' to open the envelope and comment that is so 'Jenny and Joe'.) We 'play' with base card, ribbon and embellishments and produce some rough ideas. I take these away for reference when making samples. There is a charge for sampling, but you get great value for money. The samples duely delivered, the couple will then place an order. What is the most important piece of stationery for a wedding and why?
Your Invitations will set the tone for your colour-scheme, theme and style of your wedding; whether it is formal, informal, traditional, modern, ecclectic, whacky...
What is your best seller?
Pockefold wallets have been very popular for many years but now couples are looking for 'different' but still wanting to be able to include lots of information. There are some nice lazer cut pocket-folds which are becoming very popular, and I am incorporating some quirky designs of my own in the current ranges.
What is the most innovative delivery method you have come across?
Not really innovative... I always try to deliver by hand. I want them to be delivered with the same care and attention with which they are lovingly created, although someone had moved 60+ miles away mid production so I delivered to a friend of the couple, who then took them when they went to stay for a weekend.
How do you add romance to any wedding stationery you do?
Simply by listening to the wants and needs of the couple, then hopefully my passion will make that happen; I am a romantic at heart, myself, so I think that carries through!
