Creative Calligraphy Full Description
I was introduced to calligraphy more than 20 years ago and my first commission was for a wedding. Over the years, I have added calligraphy - which translates from the Greek for 'beautiful writing' - to wedding stationery for friends and family and in 2014, I took this a step further and launched Creative Calligraphy. There is something very personal and special about receiving something hand-written and I think calligraphy can provide an elegant finishing touch to your wedding stationery. The service you receive from me will also be very personal. As a one-woman band, you can be assured of one-to-one attention. I am able to offer a range of calligraphy styles to complement your stationery and/or wedding theme, in a variety of colours. Calligraphy can be used to add guest names to invitations, envelopes, place cards and table plans, or create lasting memories of the day by having vows, readings or lyrics written and framed as keepsakes. If your wedding stationery deserves more than a ballpoint pen, or digitised font, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I also run workshops, if you'd like to try calligraphy for yourself, or get a group of friends together for an alternative hen party.

I would heartily recommend Angela
I asked Angela to write the table place cards for my daughter Helena’s wedding in Manchester. The cards were beautifully written and Helena was absolutely over the moon with them. Angela offered a very friendly service, a very competitive price and a very quick turnaround, extremely professional. As an addition, she organised the cards into tables for me and also did some research into the wedding venue. As a result, Angela found out that Ordsall Hall in Manchester has a ghost called The White Lady and she added a place card for her, just in case she visited on the day! This was a lovely personal touch. I would heartily recommend her to anyone considering having something beautifully hand-written.

Her work was like art.
Angela was an absolute delight to work with. She addressed our wedding invitation envelopes. I dropped off the envelopes in person and found Angela to be a very warm, professional and organised person. Her work was like art. We had so many compliments and it really helped set the style for our wedding. Her calligraphy really did take our invitations to the next level.

beautifully complete
We married in Nashville and received a huge ornamental wedding certificate in the style of an old music hall poster. Unfortunately, no details were filled on and we certainly didn’t trust ourselves to do it. We approached Angela and the wedding certificate is now beautifully complete and has pride of place on our kitchen wall.

Work was done to an exceptionally high standard
I was absolutely delighted with the service provided by Angela Reed. I wanted something personal for my wedding invites, place settings and thank you cards, and had seen some of Angela’s work previously, so had no hesitation in handing over all of my wedding stationery to her. She listened to our brief and knew exactly what we wanted. The work was done on time, and to an exceptionally high standard. It was just one of those little touches that made the day extra special and more personal. I also hope the invites were something the guests could have as a keepsake and a reminder of our big day.

Thrilled with the outcome
I came across Angela online and I have to say what a lucky find it was. I wanted my wedding invitations and envelopes written out. I phoned Angela and I really couldn’t have found a nicer, more helpful person. She came to the house and helped me choose what I needed then took them away and had them done in no time at all! An excellent 100% professional job done. Thrilled with the outcome.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Can I say my own? I did do my own calligraphy! Each wedding is unique and I love the small intimate ceremonies as well as those worthy of a double-page spread in a glossy magazine. One of my brides got married at Durham Cathedral and the pictures from that were pretty spectacular - flowers galore!

What about your business are you most proud of?

The reaction I get when I hand over a completed commission - all positive so far! Making people happy makes me happy.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Remember that it's your day, so do it your way.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One of my brides hand-delivered every single one of her invitations.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I will discuss calligraphy styles and types and colour of ink, deciding on which would best suit the stationery before coming up with a sample, if necessary. Then it's just a case of getting the guest list, or wording if it's a piece of writing, and the stationery and getting on with the calligraphy. Simple really!

What is the most important piece of stationery for a wedding and why?

I think the wedding invitation - and the envelope it arrives in - really sets the tone for your wedding. It gives your guests an initial clue as to what to expect from your big day - and first impressions count!
