Ruth Mackman Celebrant Full Description
A wedding celebration enables you to have the perfect moment, the way you want it, where you want it. My couples tell me I'm very good at listening and helping them to create a ceremony that perfectly reflects who they are, and what's important to them. I'll be pleased to help you find the right words and the right music. If involving your family, your friends, your pets, is important, then yes, we can do that. Whether you want to include prayers or blessings, or would rather just have a secular ceremony with no reference to faith, either is fine. I always suggest a no obligation chat (zoom or face to face) so we can find out more about each other, and you can decide if you'd like me to take your ceremony. I will show you draft terms and conditions, explain how much my fee will be and what is included. If you're happy to go ahead, I ask for £100 deposit. After that, we'll have an initial meeting where we'll work out the brief, I'll send you a note to outline what we've agreed and what you and I need to do by when. I'll draft the service for you, and give you plenty of time to make changes, until you know it's just how you want it. I'm available to meet or have a call any time, if you have queries or we need to work through any of the details. On the day, I'll be there in good time, make sure everything is set up and check in with both of you to settle any nerves. And then, I'll lead you through a very special ceremony, one which you and your guests will remember for all the right reasons. Afterwards, I'll give you a keepsake copy of the service, printed on and bound with handmade paper, something I hope you'll cherish and look back on fondly. If you're celebrating a marriage, then you need to remember this isn't a legal marriage, but this is a lovely way to celebrate a marriage in a way that's far more personal and unique than a registry office is likely to allow.

Happy couple married in April

a beautiful service which was totally unique to us
Thankyou to Ruth for making such a special part of our wedding day truly memorable. We knew we wanted something personal when we got married and that’s exactly what we got. From the initial zoom meeting, to meeting in the pub, to follow ups, we put together a beautiful service which was totally unique to us. Even better, afterwards we got the most beautiful box with a copy of our vows which are now on our wall to remember. Thankyou for making our day so special.

Ruth is one in a million!
Ruth was our celebrant for our wedding celebration at Dodmoor House. I am so glad we chose her. She was so warm, friendly, reassuring and helpful every step of the way. We had so many comments from guests about the beautiful, personal and unique ceremony Ruth created. She took the time to meet with us on a couple of occasions to get to know us, even meeting our dog Mabel who gave Ruth the seal of approval straight away (dogs are an excellent judge of character).

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

An outdoor wedding, next to a lake, with a beautiful teepee reception, where the rings were carried (beautifully I have to say) by the couple's dog.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Friendly, gentle, eloquent, warm, simple

What about your business are you most proud of?

when my couples tell me how comfortable they felt with me and how I captured exactly what they wanted

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Never forget it's about the two of you!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Friends being invited to speak during the ceremony, explaining why they love this couple so much, giving them their blessing and promise of friendship

Describe your typical process with a couple.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

A renewal of vows where the man and wife rode horses to the ceremony

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

get the brief right at the start, listen very carefully, be really efficient and plan ahead, make sure I've spoken to anyone else involved in making the day go like clockwork, and having a cool head as and when anything crops up. And keep a smile on my face - because if I'm smiling, hopefully you're smiling :)

What do you love most about your job?

work out what's most important and what's negotiable (a bit like a marriage)

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

one of my lovely grooms pulling out personalised handkerchiefs for him and his bride ... he obviously knew she would cry with joy throughout the ceremony x
