Linda Keys, Celebrant Full Description
It is an absolute joy to meet with couples and to hear your stories. I could (and do) sit for hours listening to the tales of first meetings, proposals, near misses, and that time you broke your leg and your other half had to carry you down the stairs. I adore hearing what people love and admire most about each other and the funny stories about what just drives you nuts about them. For me, this is a key part of the process and one I’m told I do really well. We are getting to know one another while I am gathering material for the ceremony script; we are likely to laugh a lot and maybe shed a few tears too. (If you are looking for a celebrant who is purely there to be professional and objective, I am probably not the one for you. My heart comes with me to this work and for me, it is all based on the relationship we form). I’m available to help you with selecting readings, music, and writing vows or promises that will be made. I can help you think of beautiful symbolic elements that add meaning and texture to your ceremony. If you want to write your own words, I am supportive and understanding when you don’t get them to me by Friday, as you promised! But I will give you a nudge and encouragement when you feel stuck and need to work through a creative block. And when it comes to the Big Day, I promise I will give you a ceremony that is truly personal, sings of your love, and buzzes with joyful energy. It is one of my greatest joys to hold space for people and ensure everyone in the room feels part of something special, with the two of you at the heart of it all.

Sweet Linda
Linda is an angel to this earth. Zac and I had multiple meetings with her over the duration of a year, she was so prepared. I had no idea how the wedding would flow, or if everything would go the way I hoped, and she made it so much better than I could have hoped. She’s as bright as the sun, and feels like a hug after long day. She truly, truly, made our wedding perfect. Her stories of us were beautifully spoken, her warmness held the room together. Linda, we couldn’t have done it without you, Zac and I are so blessed to have found you.

Amazing experience from the start
We found Linda online when looking for an inclusive and relaxed wedding ceremony and after one meeting knew this was the person we wanted to book. Linda is incredibly warm, nice and has a genuine desire to get to know you both individually and as a couple. Linda helped us to think about how we could make the ceremony inclusive and accessible for everyone attending and this is something she is clearly passionate about. We had several meetings talking about how we want the ceremony to go and she made some lovely suggestions. She sent us lots of helpful stuff about writing our own vows and including a handfasting ceremony. We met in person once at a lovely restaurant and had a really nice time. On the day of the wedding Linda spoke to both of us and we went through the last little bits. My nephew was our ring bearer and he was so nervous about it as he wanted to do a good job, but Linda explained everything to him and helped him to feel more confident. The ceremony was so full of love and fun which was exactly how we wanted it to be. We have received many comments from our guests about how personal and relaxed our ceremony was, which we credit to choosing Linda as our celebrant. All of our friends absolutely loved her and we've told them to have their weddings in Scotland and book her! After the ceremony she gave us a lovely box beautifully wrapped in a bow with all our ceremony things in it to keep as a nice memory, and explained what we had to do with the marriage schedule. We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Linda and cannot fault her in any way. Thank you!

above and beyond
We're so glad we asked Linda to be the celebrant for our wedding in the Scottish borders last November. From the start, Linda was warm and responsive, and we enjoyed spending time with her planning our ceremony. She took the time to get to know us and the script she prepared for us was beautiful. It perfectly captured our story and the mood we wanted to create during our ceremony. Like many, we had to postpone our original planned date in 2020, and we were so glad Linda was available for one of our rescheduled options. Linda was very reassuring during this period and helped make sure we were aware of any covid impacts/requirements on the ceremony. We were particularly touched when Linda asked a nearby friend to collect us an oathing stone from the place my husband proposed - this was above and beyond and was a really special touch! On the day everyone commented about how amazing the ceremony was and what a great job Linda did. We'd highly recommend Linda for anyone seeking a celebrant.

Our guests all commented
My wife Pauline & I are so glad we found Linda, she made the ceremony experience truly amazing. Linda was patient, she took time to understand how we wanted our special day to flow. She ensured our family and friends were key to the proceedings. Our guests all commented on how fabulous she was. Our day (after 3 cancellations due to COVID) finally went ahead in October 2021 and was perfect. Linda even presented us with boxed copies of our wedding vows as a keepsake. We cannot Thank her enough. Pauline & Richie Woods.

warm, emotive and humorous
My husband and I got married in our garden in July 2021, with Linda as our celebrant. She conducted the ceremony beautifully. It was warm, emotive and humorous- just exactly what you would hope for. Linda spent a lot of time before the wedding getting to know us, so it was personal and meaningful and completely centred around our story. We couldn’t recommend Linda highly enough. In fact, reluctant to lose contact with her, I joined her pregnancy yoga class (also exceptional!). Thank you, Linda, you fantastic human.

A day full of love, joy and commitment!
Aaaah Linda! We could not have found a better person to tell our story and lead us us through our wedding. From the first meeting Julie and I were so excited about the process and working with Linda. When we got our first piece of “homework” it was really refreshing to see that all kinds of individuals, couples and families would feel represented in the way everything was worded. Linda realises that each couple and each story is unique and takes the time to really personalise the experience. At first we weren’t sure if doing the legal bit separately would be extra hassle but it worked out so much better than we even imagined. The process of designing the ceremony with Linda and the energy she created while performing was so full of love, commitment, joy and truth. So many of our guests commented on what an amazing ceremony it had been and how it fit us as a couple so well. It felt like having a friend up there who knew us and cared about our love. Linda kept the excitement and importance of the occasion while still making sure we were relaxed and knew what was happening when. We can’t wait to have babies so Linda can do their naming ceremonies.

Our amazing wedding in Comrie
We had a beautiful day and this was largely down to a perfect start with our ceremony. Linda touched everyone's hearts with her personalised words, not only were both of us brides sobbing, but so were most of our throng! Linda had put so much care into picking out of our stories, the essence of what was most significant factors of our relationship and giving just the right level of detail, delivered in her just right manner of warmth, humour, friendship and still the gravity that befits the occasion. Everyone loved our ceremony and that made us feel so glad and so happy on the day. Great start to our wedding and to our married life.

An amazing and personal experience
Linda was the celebrant for our wedding in March this year. We were blown away by how well she got to know us, the time and care she spent on learning our background story and all our weird traits, and how comfortable she made us feel while spilling all our secrets. Our guests all loved the way she then retold our story during the ceremony, with many commenting that it was one of the most personal ceremonies they had ever attended, and plenty of grown men with a tear in their eye.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

It sounds trite, but they all are. Whether it’s the first one I did (for friends) with the confetti cannon, the couple (whom I just fell in love with) that live in my very own village, or the local “celebrity” whose wedding I never dreamed I’d get to do.... Every wedding finds a special place in my heart.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Warm, inclusive, heartfelt, relaxed, reassuring.

What about your business are you most proud of?

The feedback I get. To know that I have “made” a wedding by setting it off with the right tone. The whole wedding tends to start off with the ceremony, so absolutely nailing what the couple wants feels like the best gift I could give. All of the guests fall in love with the couple, are besotted by their love story, and just want to celebrate with them after they’ve been part of a wonderful ceremony.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. I am perhaps biased, but to me it’s the ceremony that really matters! This is a relatively new thing for modern couples; that nowadays you can have a completely personalised ceremony which really tells the story of your love, loads of help (if you want it) with writing personalised vows, and an engaging celebrant leading a heartfelt ceremony.... it’s magical! I'm not diminishing the wonderful impact that decor/ cake/ catering etc can make. But at the end of the day the only thing that matters is that you both turn up and get a chance to declare your love to one another with friends and family as witnesses.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Special/personalised readings or songs always get me, especially delivered by a child.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I send an information sheet and availability calendar so that we can get straight to an initial (no obligation) chat on Zoom. Once you have booked, we get set up with a contract and I create a wee password-protected ceremony portal for all our documents. Around about 6 months before the wedding, I send out my lovely questionnaires (which couples LOVE because it gets them in gear to think about what they want from their ceremony and tells me some of the key moments of their relationship, as well as what they love most about one another). It’s a great warm-up for our first meeting. I make sure we have a really good first meeting where you can become relaxed with me, and then we use our follow-up meetings to chat through ceremony structure, readings, who's standing where, and other creative or logistical elements. I’m also available for a rehearsal or walk-through if you've been chosen that add-on option.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

Dog ring bearers! (They actually didn’t go through with it in the end though they did make a very cute flower girl and page boy!)

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

I always make sure I communicate well with the couple and take as much load off them as I can. I’m keep in communication in the days leading up to the wedding. I think I help people remember what the wedding is all about; celebrating their love with the people that matter. Once you get that in perspective the rest of the stuff is fun rather than stressful - as it should be!

What do you love most about your job?

Book your celebrant early. :) I cap the number of weddings I do each year so that I still have plenty of time with my family while my children are young enough to want me there at weekends! Once I've reached my full quota I start turning people away, even if I'm available on that date. This has benefits to the couples I work with - I can really focus on you and I have plenty of emotional energy to keep your wedding feeling special to everyone (including me!) I realise I'm really lucky to be in a position to do this, but it is definitely helping me to do the best job possible.

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

I love the exchange of vows. Most couples think they will struggle with nerves but very few do; they just look so caught up in the love of the moment.
