I once finished reading Wuthering Heights at a wedding. Firstly, I couldn't put it down as it is, in my opinion, an exceptional read but secondly, the formulaic and sterile nature of all the weddings I had ever been to were, to me, meaningless, indistinguishable from one another and frankly, dull. When I was approached by two people I knew to act as the Celebrant for their wedding, I relished the opportunity to bring together a fun-filled, meaningful and absorbing celebration of these two thoughtful and unconventional people in a way that was absolutely unique to them. I wrote a ceremony for them following some wonderful evenings discussing the couple's values and how they wanted to celebrate their union with the people they love. All the guests were involved in the fun and games in this hour-long ceremony, with a kazoo orchestra and a quiz that everyone contributed to, a game of rounders and music. Spurred on by this experience, I trained with The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants in the Summer of 2022 and gained invaluable knowledge and inspiration from our teacher as well as my classmates. As a happy teacher of twenty-three years, I am highly organised, resourceful and crafty. As a celebrant I relish creating events that embody the characters and values of my couples, I relish creating activities (if wanted) that bring meaning, fun and memories, and I relish the looks of joy on those I work with. A marriage is too precious to just administrate: couples want to celebrate! If you are planning one of the most important days of your life, to look back on with no regrets - purely joy, get in touch and let's turn your dream into a plan!
