What is your most memorable wedding?
At the summit of a mountain in the Cairngorms!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, light hearted, professional
What about your business are you most proud of?
Having built it from nothing with my father, I now work with a team of Celebrants at Independent Humanist Ceremonies, helping couples celebrate their vows for over a decade. We are also inclusive and happy to incorporate the culture and beliefs of all attending.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Pick a Celebrant that you click with. If you don't they're not right for you, don't let anyone tell you how to do things and try not to stress, you'll have a great day.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love it when kids and family are involved in the ceremony.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I don't expect anyone to book me until we have had a meeting and they are sure I am right for them. Once booked, I prepare a draft script and email it to the couple for feedback ASAP. We then work on it together until it's just right. I guide couples through the legal process and on the day keep everybody right as well as delivering their unique ceremony.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
I once had an ice hockey mascot come down the aisle with a giant cows head. The bride surprised the groom as they had always joked that he loved the team more than her.
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
No such thing, but I do my best to promote a relaxed ceremony and ensure everyone knows what they're doing. So long as I hold it together, it doesn't matter if a couple fluff a line, hit the giggles, walk the wrong way or get a wee bit emotional. It's a celebration!
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
A groom/bride turning to see their partner for the first time that day!
