Sarah Wedding Photographer Full Description
If you’re looking for someone to faithfully tell the story of the happiest day of your life in a natural, unobtrusive, true documentary way then you’ve come to the right place. I’m Sarah, and I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Sheffield and covering the UK. My goal is to give you not just the freedom to enjoy your wedding day without being bossed about by a photographer, but to provide beautiful, emotive photographs of you, your family and friends that stand the true test of time. The types of photos that tell a story, evoke emotions and memories, not just now but in many years to come. Documentary Wedding Photography I truly believe in and am passionate about this way of documenting your day. Emotive pictures that capture personalities, not just posed and forced photos that may look pretty in a photographers portfolio but say nothing about the people. Photographs have the power to capture life, make new connections and help people – I don’t just photograph weddings, I photograph life too, which is why I love working on documentary projects in my spare time. The Experience As I’ve been chatting to couples it’s clear that choosing the right photographer for you personally is so important. I love weddings – I’m a soppy old romantic. To some it’s just a job, but it’s what makes me happy and I treasure every couple who let me be part of their amazing journey. Which is why when you email me or call me you get a quick response, it’s why I do my best to look after you and help you, not just on the run up to the big day but after it as well. Please kick off your shoes, have a look through some wedding portfolios, read more about my documentary photographic style also known as “Reportage wedding photography,” or “wedding photojournalism.” If you’d like to know whether I have your date available please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

All of them!!!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

True Documentary Natural & Relaxed Reportage Fly on the wall

What about your business are you most proud of?

My clients. I love them all, and without them I wouldn't have a business!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't panic! There are lots of free wedding planning templates on Google, I'd start here. You can see what you do/don't want before you decide on your date, location, and everything else from there, but decide in advance what's important to you both.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I just love when family jewellery is attached to the dress or a bouquet with a pendant and photo in it, that way the absent family member can still walk down the aisle. I think it's a beautiful sentiment and idea.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Usually they like to have a check on my work then drop me a line to see if I have their date available. It's nice to have a chat but I'm really easy going and not salesy at all, so if you like to do everything on email, or phone, or face to face I'm happy with whatever works for you. When you're happy we both complete a form and a booking fee (usually 30%) then the rest isn't due until the month before. Obviously we chat through the day closer to the date so we know the plan.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I don't think there is a #1 picture. Every story is different and I love to document it as it unfolds rather than forcing my ideas on to couples. THEY may have a number one photo they want to get, and I always oblige, but it should be their decision.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I don't get asked to take specific photos at weddings very often due to my style, I am trusted to capture the day honestly. The most unusual photo I have taken during the day was probably the wedding party enjoying the miniature railway in Buxton, that was fun, and I even got to have a go too! TOOT TOOT!!!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Brollies and wellies. You only get one chance for memories of this day. That said it's ALWAYS your choice whether you'd like to brave the weather ;) "Let the rain pitter patter because it really doesn't matter if the skies are grey. As long as I've got you, it's a lovely day"

Describe how you got into photography.

I was asked by a friend to photograph her wedding. She was adamant that if I didn't do it she wasn't going to have a photographer! YIKES! No pressure of course haha!
