Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, timeless, arty, emotional, fun
What about your business are you most proud of?
The best feeling I get is when I receive a lovely review from a client who not only loves their wedding photos but enjoyed having me around on one of the most important days of their lives.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Feel free to speak to suppliers to get recommendations on other suppliers. I always offer a list of videographers I would recommend as we continually support and work with each other!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A WhatsApp voicenote played to the groom and all the guests over the speaker from the bride to the groom just before she walks down the aisle, even I cried.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
A couple will usually reach out to me via an app, email or WhatsApp to see if I'm available on the date of their wedding. If I’m free I’ll send my pricing through. I then offer a free consultation- either meeting for a coffee or a chat over zoom. I can show you some of my portfolio & we can chat about your wedding. Then if a couple would like to book my services I take a deposit and signed contract to confirm the booking, once this is received nobody else can book your date. The remaining balance is then due by your wedding day. On the run up to your wedding I will get some information on timings and family photos and have a chat again about your plans. The wedding day itself is very relaxed as far as photography; mainly natural, just capturing the story of your day with a few posed official photos after your ceremony. Online galleries are then available 6-8 weeks after your wedding- sometimes it’s quicker! These images can be downloaded, they are all high resolution & have no watermarks. Print ordering is also available directly from the site. If an album is ordered you can select your favourite photos and I’ll do an online mock-up for you before printing.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Family photos are dreaded but so important, it's one of the few times everyone is together and looking their best with a professional photographer there. Most people dread this part of the day but I organise everything well in advance to get them done quickly and painlessly. This year I hit a record of 75 group combinations at one wedding, these photos were important to the couple and with it being well organised we fired through it quickly. I'd recommend keeping the list small but if you'd like to do loads I'm always up for a challenge!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I’ve photographed a lot of different things, there’s not much that will faze me. Riding on tractors, sailing in boats, working with a lot of different animals; dogs, cows, horses, alpacas. If it’s adventurous I’ll be up for it!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
It’s very rare for me to take all your wedding photos indoors and I live and mainly work in N. Ireland! But if it is a complete wash out of a day we can create some amazing photos inside, I have a selection of lighting to use and will create some amazing portraits for you. There's also the option to take extra photos after dinner... especially if there's a sunset!
Describe how you got into photography.
My dad was an artist so I grew up in a very creative house. My grandfather was also a very keen photographer. The only subject I every cared about in school was art, lots of people told me it was a waste of time! At Univeristy I completed a foundation degree in art & design then went on to a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Photography. When I graduated in 2010 I started photographing for restaurants, nightclubs and event companies. I slowly started photographing weddings and after a few years went full time self employed as a wedding & family photographer. Now I specialise in wedding photography and absolutely love my job!
