MesherPhotos Full Description
I provide a friendly, relaxed and most importantly a reliable photography service. I'll be right by your side from the moment you contact me to the moment you step off the dance floor. I also offer a photo booth service, so if that floats your boat then you can even get me to stick around for a bit longer. I consider myself more of a documentary style photographer although I do like some of the traditional photos too, I guess those are the ones that look great on the wall! If you need help with other suppliers I have my recommendations for DJ, videographer and bridal wear which come in handy with some offering discounts for my referrals. But don't let that entice you, wait until you see my shiny wedding albums! I boast one of the nicest styles of album on the market, at least that's what previous couples have told me. So enquire now and be wowed when you see a sample, it's ok. It's free to look through and I charge nothing for consultations, what you see is what you get and I only ask for an initial £300 flat rate as a booking fee once you've decided. Before any hard decisions are made though, I'm more than happy to show off my work over a cup of tea and a chat about your plans.

He captured a real natural feel of the day
Jane and I had the pleasure of using James Mesher for our wedding photography. I can happily say we were very pleased with everything James did. He captured a real natural feel of the day and was a great professional to deal with. Especially with all the planning that goes towards the day it’s pleasing to know the photos were all taken care of and one less thing on the list.

He was so professional and lovely.
James photographed our wedding in March 2015. Due to an injury sustained a few months before, I couldn’t do getting ready shots but James and a photography student took loads of pictures of the wedding to make up for it, including a picture of me waiting to enter the church with the sun behind me, and a silhouette shot of myself and my husband with a uplight behind us that we’ll treasure forever. He was so professional and lovely. Made up for a traumatic few months before hand.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What about your business are you most proud of?

I'm proud of how far I've come not just in photography but as a person too. The way I see images now is completely different to how I saw them last year and this has made my work better too.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Ignore everyone else and do what you want to do. It's your day! By all means listen to advice and particularly from the experienced vendors but generally do what you want to do as a couple as this whole day is yours.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Meet first, show my samples and explain the next steps should you decide to book. Have a good chat over a cup of tea then send over a contract to look through. Any questions or concerns can be dealt with immediately over the phone or email. Once contract is signed and booking fee is paid, we arrange to meet at your venue(s) at around 8-10 weeks before the day (church weddings I meet as soon as possible with the reverend). I send a questionnaire to look through but we go through it all upon meeting and make sure the timings for everything you've worked hard to plan for is right, hopefully there's another cup of tea available. I like to chat with the organiser at the venue if available and walk around to get a better idea of how you want your day to pan out. Final fee to be paid no more than 30 days before the date but can be paid however you wish between the day and initial booking fee. At any point in the process, every couple is welcome to contact me by whichever means they feel necessary. If you've got any worries or concerns over suppliers (including myself) or you're just getting yourself in a panic and need someone impartial to talk to, I'm here. I know how stressful planning a wedding can be so I'm happy to help however and whenever I can.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Every photo there's an opportunity for! There's no one answer to this as every moment on your day is special, so whether it's the first kiss or the first dance they're all as important as each other. I would recommend any couple to make sure they get their photos for Mum & Dad though, you know, the posed ones where you're gazing into each other's eyes like you do naturally every day. Or the one where you're walking off into the sunset. They're always a winner whether the couple like them initially or not.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

A very brave and relaxed bride & groom! Rainy day night photos can look very beautiful but for when you need all the guests to get the group shots then you'll need to be relaxed and confident that your photographer has already made plans for this and will do everything in his/her power to make the most of the weather.

Describe how you got into photography.

Driving to Cornwall I saw the sun was shining over a field and the light was hitting the flowers in such a beautiful way. I turned to my wife and said "I wish I had the talent to paint that picture", at which point my father in law who was driving told me that I could borrow his camera for the duration of the holiday. This was extended by about 2 years until I had saved to get my own camera and learned a lot more.
