Latitude Photography Full Description
I specialise in contemporary, alternative and elegant wedding photography throughout the UK I love being a wedding photographer, as it means that I spend my time capturing people on the most important day of their lives in beautiful surroundings. For me photographing weddings has all the ingredients for some seriously creative photography. Each wedding is different, each bride and groom has their own personality and each day presents its own opportunities. So right from the start I saw the chance to have fun and capture some amazing photographs every time. My style is to keep things relaxed, to shoot the day as it unfolds. I don’t like to force things, spending hours setting up elaborate situations that result in photos that look staged and unnatural. I can appreciate that not everyone feels comfortable in front of a camera, and so I see it as part of my job to make them feel at ease. When I first photographed a wedding it quickly became apparent that I wasn't just capturing the day, but also the bride and groom. I realised that my skill with a camera was only part of what makes a good wedding photographer and that I also needed to understand the bride and groom’s personalities and how to capture these. No two weddings are ever the same, from the character and style of each couple, through to the way the great British weather always plays its part, I love to think creatively and reflect the day as it unfolds leading to beautiful, creative and relaxed wedding photography.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

My most memorable wedding was one I photographed this past summer at Roughmoor Farm in Somerset. It was a beautiful, intimate, rural wedding that really did feel like I was at a Summer Fate, with lawn games, stalls etc. But not only that, the couple were mad on Jurassic Park so in the middle of this Summer Fate were dinosaurs, various props from the film and an exact replica of the JP Jeep.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Relaxed, Informal, Contemporary, Elegant, Fun

What about your business are you most proud of?

The thing I'm most proud about with my business is that it is a reflection of who I am, my personality and my enthusiasm. I take pride in my work and how its a part of me.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

My number one tip to couples planning a wedding is remember that you're the boss! The day needs to reflect you, not the needs of the suppliers.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

My favourite personal touch I've seen at a wedding is when a couple had a pub quiz during the reception. It was great fun, itreally engaged the whole room and something I've not seen done before.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

To get the best shots of the couples that I am photographing I like to go for a walk away from the main wedding party and let their personality come to the forefront, letting the couple relax and shooting around them. I keep my direction to a minimum and from observing their natural body language work out what would work best from them.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I'm not sure there is a #1 photo every couple should have as no two weddings, and certainly no couple, is are ever the same. I don't like to force a photo onto a couple as what's right for the character and relationship of one couple will not be right for another. I like to reflect and capture a couple and wedding a it is, not how I think it should be.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

If it's a rainy day then my advice is not to worry as great wedding photography, and great weddings, are not dependant on the weather. If it does rain there are always alternatives, and you can always embrace the rain! I would never ask couples and guests to stand out in the rain, but that doesn't mean it can't be used to make dramatic, beautiful photos. It'll only be me getting wet, which I don't mind at all!

Describe how you got into photography.

I got in to photography from a very young age having been given a camera as a child after seeing my dad and granddad's photos from their youthful adventures, and after that it became more and more of an obsession until I stepped up and did a friend a favour by photographing his wedding nearly 10 years ago. From there it's been my passion, hobby and profession.
