Fun and colourful photos
Kat recently took some portrait photos of me and she was fabulous. I really hate being in front of the camera but Kat made me feel relaxed as she has a very warm personable nature. I am delighted with the photo and I'd go as far as to say it is one of the best photos of me that I have ever seen.

Amazing Day shame about the photos
Unfortunately our styles clashed on our wedding photos. Cropped out feet and photos taken too low. Very close cropping (missing end of bouquet for example) - made the photos of the day feel claustrophobic and pokey. Lots of documentary style photos but not many of guests direct smiling at camera. Lovely person to work with but needs to be more assertive at getting the best shots and asking people to move out of the way when necessary. I had to direct the couple posed photos and they were badly framed taken too low and not centered. Made me feel very fat and unflattered which is not what you want on your big day. I have attached the pic of my mother whom was distraught when she saw it. Perhaps a good photographer may ask her to smile at camera? If you are concerned about double chins ask her to take the photos from high and not from shoulder height. Objects in front of bouquet shots (someone's camera phone!!!) and trees in the way. When I complained about the above and missing guests and some areas of the venue not being shot I was told that in the contract this was covered by 'artistic licence' and not offered any compensation. If you want alternative angles and composition/framing and a documentary feel then this is for you. It just turned out not what we expected from seeing her other work. I feel let down especially since this cost us more than £1500 for the photos.

"Our photographs are little pockets of memories"
Kat has an incredible talent of clicking away at all those little details that embody the overall feel of the day. Not only is she extremely discreet (most of our guests were totally unaware that she had managed to catch them laughing/ dancing/snogging), Sam and I felt completely at ease when we were taken away for our couples photographs- especially as Sam is known for being quite camera shy. I knew from looking at Kat’s wedding portfolio on her website that our photographs were going to be informal, fun and creatively shot. However, when we were given the opportunity to preview our pictures on Kat’s blog, we were completely blown away! Our photographs are little pockets of memories and will forever be treasured.

"The photos she gave us were gorgeous"
Kat shot my wedding in November of 2012, and working with her during that special (and occasionally stressful) occasion was an absolute joy. Kat and her assistant managed to bring the perfect mix of professionalism and fun to our wedding day that made the whole photography experience enjoyable and stress-free. My husband and I felt free to be our goofy selves. The photos she gave us were gorgeous, and beyond priceless because they really captured us and the entire gamut of feelings that were experienced over the day. We get so many compliments on the wedding pictures we have in our flat. Plus, she’s pretty cool as well! It’s been over year since my wedding and I’m so pleased to be able to call her a friend.

FAQs

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Fun, quirky, alternative, modern, natural

What about your business are you most proud of?

I'm most proud that I decided one day (after my own wedding) that I wanted to be a wedding photographer, and went out and made it happen!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Have things that mean a lot to you. Whether that's Doctor Who table names, or Harry Potter-inspired vows, or a cake inspired by where you met! Don't ever think "It's a wedding, so we can't do that." YES, YOU CAN. My other tip is for brides (sorry, grooms) - don't stress about your dress getting dirty on the day. If it touches the ground, it's going to get dirty...just let it go and have fun! I promise no one will even notice.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Gosh, SO many - I've had some amazing couples do some very cool things! A recent one was a rock song singalong during the ceremony. The guests loved it (as did I!). And I love when couples make things like table centrepieces themselves - one of my recent couples had Buffy, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Jeeves & Wooster centrepieces, all hand-sculpted by themselves.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Bring lots of umbrellas and just go with it - you can't change the weather, so just have fun and get cute "snuggling under the umbrella" photos!
