I'm Joe, a wedding photographer based in Cheshire but also covering the surrounding areas. I shoot at lots of different venues and I am happy to travel. I am non-obstructive on your wedding day, as many of my reviews have said! My style is bright, colourful and classic to capture those forever memories. I'll work hard to tell the story of your day and to photograph it just how you imagined.

Joe Gardner Photography Full Description
The aim is to provide you with a pretty, thorough visual story of your wedding day. I'll work hard to capture as much of the happy goings-on from the morning preparations up until your guests are hurling themselves around the dancefloor into the evening. I'll be in the background wherever possible, to get natural, reportage images of every part of your day. I'm happy to direct parts of the day that require some formality but will try, as much as possible, to leave you to enjoy the day with your guests & have the absolute best day.  I'm working for you & will operate as you wish on the day. We'd communicate as much as you'd like in the build-up (including a visit to your venue). Hearing about your plans & hopes for the day means I can help you to have the day you want as well as being in the right places at the right times to get the photographs that tell the story of the day. I get some very generous feedback around being a good addition to the wedding day. I'll be lovely with your Mum, look after elderly guests, be good company for anyone that comes for a chat (everyone loves to talk photos/cameras it seems to me!) & will play along enough to get the photographs you'd like of your children in the wedding party. I try my best to be a pleasure to have around. I'll dress smartly & look like a guest, so as not to dilute your smartly-designed wedding! By the same token, importantly I think, I'm not looking to be your new best friend & I won't mither you all day & try & be part of your gang. I know you have dozens of close friends & family & I want you to enjoy your day with all of them as best you can & just be there to document that for you & tell the story of the day for you to look back on. I'm more than happy to organise folk & take control when i'm required to - group photos, family set-ups, organising half-cut guests to form a confetti tunnel, but i won't be the shouty, bossy photographer that thinks the day is about them; i'm not interested in that.

Joe was the perfect addition to our day!
Joe photographed our Mohawk in October 2023. Not only did he take amazing photos, but he also helped the day run super smoothly! Joe new exactly where to position himself so he was never in the way of the big moments, but also got the best shots! We spoke to him multiple times before the day and discussed what style we would like - unposed/less formal/candid etc - and he totally came through with the shots!

A Wonderful Photographer
Joe was a fantastic addition to our special day. Having been to many weddings where the photographer runs the day, it was refreshing to find Joe who fitted into our day seamlessly. He worked around us and made sure he got all those important shots on our list, without taking us away from our guests for lengthy periods of time. Before the wedding, Joe made time so we could meet to discuss what we wanted and to walk around the venue together. On the day, many guests commented on how friendly and polite Joe was on the day and we feel so lucky to have found such a brilliant photographer. He had the perfect balance of photos of us both, group shots, natural in the moment shots and photos of all those little details in the day. It was such a special moment to receive our photos and we could not have been happier with how he captured our day. We would wholeheartedly recommend Joe to any future couples.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Mine!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural, documentary, relaxed, thoughtful, creative

What about your business are you most proud of?

Hearing from couples that think I've done their day justice makes me happy

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Find a venue you love & are happy at first & the rest will follow

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

From time to time, you see a couple that have written their own vows & are just so into each other. They're up there speaking to each other as if no-one else is present & can be very special

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

For me you've got to take a little time, even just a few mins for the strictly-documentary types, for a walk around the grounds & some natural photos of you together

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

If it's truly biblical all day, I'll happily meet you at the venue again in future for some couples photographs on a better day free of charge. Of course that means dress & hair again etc but it's hopefully some small consolation! Other than that, some white umbrellas & a sense of humour can go a long way

Describe how you got into photography.

My Dad was a photographer & he had a dark room at home where we'd develop black & white images of all sorts of things. I learnt the basics of the craft there
