James Corbett Photographer Full Description
I have always believed that a wedding should be photographed in its entirety, from bridal preparations to evening celebrations. I also like to be flexible so don't put a specific end time on my attendance with you or limit the amount of pictures I take. Having this flexibility enables me to get the best pictures from your day! My approach is relaxed and informal and I never take centre stage. Being discreet and unobtrusive always works best and enables me to capture natural moments. I work in a documentary way, which means I won't be setting anything up or pre-posing pictures, however, I do understand the importance of family group pictures and happy to do these should you require them.

Insanely Good!
Our official photographer was insanely good. James Corbett was like a secret ninja, with his silent camera and impressive skills to blend in with the crowd. We wanted a photographer who captured the moment and didn’t take us away for hours making us do staged photos, which I always looks so uncomfortable a goofy in. James is a Documentary Wedding Photographer, he certainly managed to create a body of work which documented a visual narrative of our day – capturing the love and laughter (sometimes uncontrollable) in the room shared by everyone! When we received our photos back from James I felt like we were reliving the day once again. He also managed to capture the impressive dance moves during the evening which summed up the epic party we had (bride and groom last ones standing!)

You captured the day perfectly!
Thank you for the photos, we absolutely love them! You captured the day perfectly - couldn't have asked for a better photographer. So many people commented on how relaxed you were and how relaxed you made them feel.

FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Every wedding I have photographed has had a memorable moment, whether it has been during the bridal preparations, the ceremony, reception, speeches or evening party. Weddings are full of very memorable moments!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative Beautiful Natural Documentary Relaxed

What about your business are you most proud of?

I am very proud of my ability to put couples at ease, photograph their wedding with creativity in an unobtrusive way and provide them with beautiful images, not just of the couple but also of their venue, friends and family.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

There is a lot of planning involved for a wedding but the most important thing to remember is to relax on the day and enjoy yourselves, the time goes so quickly!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

My favourite personal touch, it's always the speeches, you can't get more personal than that!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Following an enquiry and booking and depending on the couple, we will either meet or chat on the phone to discuss their plans. If a venue visit is required or a pre wedding shoot then this is arranged. Lastly, we catch up a few weeks prior to the wedding date and go over any details. I am always available to speak to couples, answer any questions or give advice, from the point of booking to the day of the wedding. Good communication with couples is always key.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I don't think couples should pre-arrange a picture which will be the same as everyone else's! Every wedding is different and the best pictures are those moments personal to each couple... that's what makes my photography and approach unique!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

That's a hard question... It's very rare that I'm asked to take specific pictures. Couples that book me trust that my ability as a creative, professional photographer will produce beautiful and original pictures which are personal to their wedding and that, I think is more important.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

It's always a good idea to have some indoor space free incase the weather changes but wellington boots and an umbrella will always save the day. Your photographer should still be able to get great pictures, even if it rains!

Describe how you got into photography.

I got into photography when I was very young. I borrowed my mother's camera for a day trip to Warwick Castle. I couldn't wait to see the results, I was so excited and I still get very excited, every time I photograph a wedding and then sit down and edit the pictures.
