Guy Collier Photography Full Description
I've shot over 580 weddings and have been doing this for 15 years now. Based in North Hampshire, I photograph weddings across Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex, the Cotswolds, London and beyond. My approach is very hands-off and I’m not staging or setting shots up. My impact on the day is as minimal and discreet as possible. I’m looking for emotion and genuine moments. I do usually shoot a few ‘formals’ with family members/bridesmaids/groomsmen, and there’s a session with just the two of you, but other than that my approach is documentary. I don’t take myself too seriously and for me it’s important that I make it as relaxed as possible with the couples who book me. I know from experience that many couples are nervous about being photographed and I absolutely believe that this approach helps get them the best photography that we can achieve together.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

a 3 day epic in Tuscany - incredibly hard work but one that'll live with me forever

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Emotion, timing, context, meaning, authentic

What about your business are you most proud of?

That I've been going for 15 years and every year 35 or so couples trust me on their most important day

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Book suppliers you love and with get on with.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Mums walking the bride down the aisle alongside the Dads

Describe your typical process with a couple.

After the initial enquiry, a chat about what they want and whether we fit. Once it's all confirmed I'm always on hand for anything they need leading up to the day.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Impossible to answer - they're all important, but it's down to what you value the most

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Not one I can type here!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Plan for rain, hope for sun. Be prepared to get outside if you can (bring different shoes if necessary). You'll be surprised at what we can get with very limited options. Choose a photographer who shoots across the year and not just the sunny months.

Describe how you got into photography.

Total chance. Took a camera to a wedding. They liked them and a friend booked me. It snowballed from there.
