What about your business are you most proud of?
One of the things I'm most proud of in my photography business is how much it has grown over time, and the opportunity it gives me to capture people's most special moments. Every wedding I photograph is unique, and knowing that I get to be part of such an important day in someone's life is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a huge privilege to be trusted with preserving those memories for a lifetime, and seeing the joy on my clients' faces when they relive those moments through my photos is truly rewarding. The growth of my business also motivates me to keep improving, experimenting, and pushing my creativity, which allows me to give couples even better and more personalised images each year.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
My No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples is to focus on what truly matters to you both and let go of the pressure to meet every expectation. Its your day.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One of my favorite personal touches I’ve seen at a wedding was when a couple included a memory table to honor loved ones who couldn’t be there. It was beautifully done, with framed photos of relatives who had passed, along with small tokens that represented their presence in the couple’s lives.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My process with a couple typically begins with an initial consultation, either in person or over the phone. I want to get to know them, their vision for the wedding day, and any special requests or must-have moments they’d like captured. We talk about their style, their personalities, and the vibe of the day to ensure that I can tailor my approach to fit their unique needs.
Once we’ve booked the date, I’ll follow up with them as the wedding day approaches to finalize the details. I usually like to schedule an engagement shoot, which helps both of us get comfortable working together before the big day. It’s also a great chance for me to learn how they interact with each other in front of the camera, and it often results in relaxed, natural photos that they can cherish.
On the wedding day, I arrive early to capture all the behind-the-scenes moments—the details, the getting ready shots, and all the small but meaningful elements that make the day unique. During the ceremony and reception, I blend into the background to capture candid moments while also being ready for the more traditional portraits when needed.
After the wedding, I take time to carefully edit the photos to make sure they reflect the emotion, colors, and beauty of the day. Then, I deliver the images in a way that allows the couple to relive the joy and memories of their special day, whether it’s through an online gallery or a beautifully crafted album.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
First look, this shot often happens before the ceremony in a private, peaceful setting where the couple can see each other for the first time in their wedding attire. The emotion is real, raw, and unfiltered, which makes for such a memorable image.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
At one wedding, the couple wanted to recreate a scene from their childhood—a playful photo of the bride and groom as kids, both in their wedding clothes, standing side by side on a swing in the park where they first met. It was a unique, creative idea that blended their love for each other with a sense of nostalgia and whimsy. The shot was so special because it gave them a chance to look back at how far they’d come in life, while also creating a fun, heartwarming memory for their wedding day.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Clear umbrellas can create a romantic, whimsical vibe in photos. They allow for an intimate look while keeping you dry. You could even personalize them with your names or wedding date. Puddles and wet streets can create beautiful reflections that make for some striking images. A rainy backdrop can give your photos an ethereal, cinematic quality.
Describe how you got into photography.
I got into photography because I’ve always had a deep appreciation for capturing moments. It all began when I got married. I was so moved by how happy everyone looked in our wedding photos—the smiles, the laughter, and the love shared among family and friends. Seeing those moments frozen in time made me realize how special it is to have a way to revisit those feelings and memories. That experience sparked my interest in photography. I wanted to not only capture those moments in my own life but to also create images that would tell stories, evoke emotions, and preserve the essence of the people and events around me.
