What is your most memorable wedding?
I waited 21 years to have a wedding with a blanket of fresh snow. Luckily the bride & groom were just as delighted and we spent a lot longer outside taking advantage than many couples would have.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Fun, creative, alternative, resourceful, experienced.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I have clients who I have served for over 20 years. In 2015 photographed a bride whose Mum's wedding I had photographed 23 years earlier! I also photographed the wedding of a bride who I had taken baby photos 19 years earlier and continued to photograph the family throughout the following years.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Be proud of your wedding photos. Enjoy the quality long after you have forgotten the price!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I have often seen the 'favours' left behind on the table, but when this has been a rolled up lottery ticket, they are ALWAYS retained. I'm not sure it is such a good idea though as it might cause friction if someone won a few million!!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
The initial meeting is an informal chat in the studio to find out the wishes and expectations of the bride & groom. Sample albums of complete weddings are available and a slideshow of favourites projected on the screen.
After booking, the couple are invited to take advantage of a complimentary 'ice-breaker' engagement portrait (or family portrait if they have children). A black & white photo is included.
Approximately 2 weeks before the wedding, we have a pre-wedding meeting to discuss the schedule and photo requests.
The wedding day is brilliant!
Approximately 2 weeks after the wedding, the bride & groom are invited to the studio where they will see a slideshow of their wedding photos on a big screen and will collect either a disc of proofs, or a usb of high resolution images, dependent on the package chosen.
If a Storybook album is included, the design will be ready for approval within 2 weeks, and the album ready 4-5 weeks after the design is approved.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
No matter how casual you want most of your coverage, a classic full length bride and groom photo with the dress and everything else perfectly arranged.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Something rather naughty but tasteful!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Forget about the weather!
Describe how you got into photography.
A passionate hobby that became a career after attending a number of courses and workshops. To this day, I still update my ideas by attending seminars.
