Ben Minnaar Photography Full Description
Since I lost my father in my early twenties I have been documenting people I love through what I love. With an immense value on my family and my friends I decided to document life not just for my self, but for others through photos which capture hidden glimpses of your closest. However hardened a person is, I find a wedding will crack them – exposing the true them. This is what I love to capture. It really is an unbelievable honour to witness such emotion. Documenting a wedding day isn’t just essential, but it’s an opportunity to see a different side to yourself and your closest. I will allow your day to unfold completely naturally whilst I photograph from morning till night because after all, your wedding day is a story to be read. Not written. Contact me for details about how I can begin to tell your story through pictures.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

In general, it's such a privilege to photograph amazing locations throughout the world. With that in mind photographing in New York or Mallorca have to be a couple of my favourites.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

candid, unobtrusive, documentary, creative and reportage

What about your business are you most proud of?

I think the proof is in the pudding in this sense. I completely love what I do but there's nothing more humbling when you get a booking. That's what i'm proud of - That couples like what they see enough to put their trust in me.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make sure to leave enough time during the drinks reception. Ideally you will want at least 1.5 hours so you can relax a little and give yourself a moment to breath.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I aim to work in the background for most of the day. If your guests at the wedding don't notice me, I count myself very lucky as it allows me to capture what I love to most - Moment driven wedding photography. I'm very flexible when it comes down to it. If you would like lots of portraits and group photos, no problem. It's the one day that is absolutely 100% about you!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

If possible, a confetti photo. And make sure to get a sunset photo if you can.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Grab an umbrella and take some photos in the rain. There's so many creative opportunities in the rain that you won't regret getting!
