Tweed in Bourbon Full Description
We believe in crafting valuable, long-lasting memories. We're achieving this by challenging traditional misconceptions about Folk weddings & events - providing both ceilidhs and concerts filled with dancing, joy and celebration! Our musical genres range from long-established Irish, Scottish and English folk music and ceilidh tune sets - to Americana classics, modern covers (Mumford & Sons, George Ezra, etc) - and even the occasional bit of Britpop! This is alongside unique covers, 'Live Lounge' style chart hits and sometimes our own unique take on folk. We are one of the few folk bands that offer both ceilidh and concert options; uniquely enabling an exciting mix between the worlds of traditional and modern music. We booked Tweed in Bourbon for a Ceilidh at our outdoor tipi wedding and they were absolutely fantastic! They created a great atmosphere with excellent enthusiastic calling and a really refreshing energy. They also played a few of their own songs, which were also brilliant! We would very much recommend them to anyone looking to organise a Ceilidh or book a folk band in general.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Hard not to say my own really... however, as a band I must say, we really enjoyed the wedding we performed just recently for a same sex couple. Playing Auld Lang Syne at midnight on New Years Eve 2017 with confetti cannons exploding and a packed room of guests all singing and dancing to our music, that's the right way to start a year.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Folk. Fun. Energetic. Upbeat. Happy.

What about your business are you most proud of?

Being able to create awesome music with my friends - that and the regular supply of hog roasts...

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Enjoy the process. You'll likely only do it once, stress helps no one and actually, the bits before can be as fun as the day itself.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Mostly we love seeing really personal bits added, like old photos or meaningful additions.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Somewhat organic. Typically a couple will give us an idea of what they want. We'll then go back with ideas, costs etc... and then together we'll reach an agreed plan of action. We then take a deposit, keep in touch until the wedding day and then make sure everything runs smoothly on the day. Simple really.

What makes a romantic first dance?

When the couple forget, for that moment, that anyone else is in that room with them - and just get lost in the moment, together.

What is your number one floor-filler?

Probably either one of our ceilidh tune sets or a song like Mustang Sally or Breakfast at Tiffanies

Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?

Me (Matt) personally, I'd of loved to have toured with the likes of Johnny Cash and Elvis, when the music industry was still so new and every sound produced was unheard-of before.

What is the soundtrack to your life?

Typically, either some blues-funk like Joe Bonamassa or some acoustic fun from bands like Nizlopi or Mumford & Sons.
