Femme Petale pride themselves on handcrafting alternative and artistic florals guaranteed to wow your wedding guests. Colourful, modern, and art-led designs are Gemma’s speciality. She will collaborate with you to ascertain your vision and theme before designing original and eye-catching pieces to complement your personal style. You can book a free consultation, online or in person, to begin curating your dream blooms. Following an initial meeting, Gemma devises a bespoke package to suit your needs. She'll then take care of everything with a follow-up call closer to the big day and handle all installations on-site to ensure every petal is perfect. She also offers prop hire for candles, lanterns and tealights, which can also be set up for you to create more atmosphere in your ceremony and reception.

I lost count of how many compliments we got

I lost count of how many compliments we got – so many people told me they were the best wedding flowers they had ever seen. I don't think I will ever want to stop staring at the photos of them. Walking in to see our pink cloud of gypsophila at the altar was the most magical experience and everything, from the pew ends (and I loved seeing these reused again on the top table chairs, what a great idea) to the bud vases and bouquets, was just absolutely perfect.

Could not have picked a better florist

Gemma did the flowers for our wedding in September 2020 and we truly could not have picked a better florist. She was brilliant. She patiently worked with us through the various changes we had to make to our wedding because of covid, ensuring we were able to keep to budget throughout. On the day, everything arrived in very good time and flowers were transported to our reception venue seamlessly. My bouquet was my bouquet of dreams

We were absolutely blown away by Gemma's creations for our little wedding day. My bouquet was my bouquet of dreams... we gave a loose brief and allowed Gemma to be creative with it and we could not have been happier with what she created. It was colourful, modern and full of little surprises, like the pop of lilac in the bouquet and the dried & dyed grass in the buttonhole. Both were just beyond anything my own brain could come up with.

Gemma is a floral creative superstar. After delaying our wedding by about a year, it was so easy to pick back up with her at a later date to coordinate our smaller, relaxed wedding in London. After sharing a Pinterest board, her proposal perfectly matched the vibe we were going for and I was happy to heed to her expertise! I am so thankful for her flexibility when I made some last-minute changes in a panic, and she just took care of the rest on the day.

Gemma was so wonderful to work with for our East London wedding. Through just a handful of phone consultations and emails, Gemma immediately understood our vision and continued to work very independently, which was a huge relief because we were so busy dealing with all the other wedding suppliers. On the day of, we were blown away by the floral display - from the actual array of plants she chose to the vases she placed them in, everything looked exactly liked we had dreamed of and more.

My bouquet was absolutely stunning

Where to start in trying to describe just how amazing our wedding flowers were. Gemma just totally got our vision for the day and my style and made the planning seem so effortless especially as our arrangements changed at the last minute due to covid restrictions. What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

When planning your wedding flowers, my number one tip is to use your budget to focus on one big design for maximum impact, rather than having lots of smaller designs, dotted around. The larger designs are always the most memorable and make for fabulous photo backdrops.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

First things first, we'll have a chat about what you've got in mind for your wedding. If you've got some pictures or moodboards, that's even better. We'll work out what style of flowers you like talk about and what elements you want for your big day. Once I'm clear on what you need, I'll put together a quote for you, taking you through the vision of your wedding flowers and how much they will cost. You'll give me your feedback and we can tweak the designs and add in forgotten aunts corasages and table designs for extra guests! You'll then pay your 50% deposit to secure your date. We'll next catch up a couple of months before the big day to check in and ensure the plan is still OK and we don't need to add anything else in. Your final payment will be made 4 weeks before the wedding so that I can place the flower order. It's an early start for me on your wedding day as I'll be creating your bouquets and buttonholes in the morning and hand delivering them to you before you head to the ceremony. I'll also be busy setting up your venue and on hand for any turnarounds we have to bring flowers from the ceremony to the reception. Once all the dancing and champagne are finished, I'll be back to take all the flowers away and sweep up every last petal.

What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?

Plants! Obviously not your average cut flowers, but succulent plants look amazing in bouquets with their blue green colour and soft rounded petals.

Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?

I love to find flowers for my couples that really represent them. Whether it's the flower from your home town, or a favourite flowers of a loved one, bringing them into the designs makes your wedding flowers incredibly personal and meaningful.

What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?

I work with Confetti Club London to dry and repurpose any leftover flowers into confetti!
