What is your most memorable wedding?
In 2014 we helped a Couple with their wedding, they were so excited to be one of the very first same sex marriages in the UK to have an 'offical' wedding ceremony, rather than a partnership - and the entire family was involved in every aspect. It was all about love, love, love and a real genuine celebration of love, and finding your soul mate. But in all honestly, I have so many fabulous wedding's that I am so proud to have been a small part of. I have made friendships that will last forever. I have 3 sons, and one daughter, but I feel like I mum to many daughters, because we get to know, and love so many brides, and we keep in touch.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Classic, Relaxed, Understated, Informal - (with FAB SHOES!)
What about your business are you most proud of?
My staff. They are dedicated and really care about their brides.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Budget - set your budget, and allow for extras. Have the wedding you want, not what others want for you
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We like to meet with a Bride, and discuss the vision she has for her wedding day. We listen to what she would like, and then choose a number of dresses for her to try on. We can then build up a picture of what she likes about her own shape, what she isn't so happy with, materials she likes, and then we can start to find the perfect dress.
What do you love most about your job?
Our Clients. Meeting brides, and then often staying in touch with them after the wedding. I love hearing about how families progress, and what happens in their lives. Because we see the Groom's Party too, for the suits, we get to know the entire family - and that makes a wedding even more special to us.
What is your favourite style of wedding dress?
I love a sheath dress, but a classic 50's tea length has to be my all time favourite. I have done some fabulous shorter gowns over the years, and a tea-length can look both edgy and classic.
What is the best way to incorporate "Something Blue" into the wedding outfit?
Our inhouse seamstress has tiny little blue bows which we can sew into the gowns. We also have sixpences too - which of course, are all lucky ones!
What is your favourite wedding dress of all time?
My Mum's. A 1950's dress, lace with silver thread, and ballerina length. I have been in love with it since I was a little girl, and it still means the world to me now. A dress is not just for one day, it is for generations to see for years to come, it is full of wonderful memories and it's about traditions. When people say a wedding dress is for just for one day, it makes me sad. It is for one very special day, a celebratory day, and the way it looks and feels will be with you for a lifetime. A wedding dress is not just an article of clothing, it symbolises so much more, it is the start of a new chapter of your life, and a statement about who you are now. That is why we spend so much time with a bride, from the time she chooses, until the day itself, because we want it to be perfect. I truly believe a wedding dress should not be 'drive by' purchase, It should be chosen with care, because your wedding day matters.
