What is your most memorable wedding?
Our own! We met working on My Fair Lady at Theatre Royal Drury Lane and we were lucky enough to be able to have our reception at the theatre. It was a magical day.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Romantic, classic, different, beautiful, dreamy
What about your business are you most proud of?
Helping brides have their special moment.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Plan ahead. Don’t get caught out with longer delivery times.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I sewed a heart into a bodice of wedding dress for the bride who had a special Someone who was no longer with us.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I usually only see the bride but once the bride has booked an appointment I will contact her a few days before her appointment. Introduce myself, talk through what to expect from the appointment, find out who is coming with her etc and break the ice. Helps brides relax when we have already spoken to each other.
Then on the day of the appointment the bride and her guest/s will come in, we will have a little chat, if she has some photos she has saved of dresses she likes she can show my and we can talk about the ranges we have etc. I will leave them to get some refreshments while they look through the rails. Then we will pick out some dresses to try on. During the appointment I will listen to what is being said and then bring in more gowns depending on what she is liking/comments that are being made. At the end of the appointment we will go back into her favourite gowns and see which one gives her the feeling on the second try. We would then measure the bride, place the order and if the bride wants to there is a chance for some “yes to the dress”photos to be taken so she never forgets her special moment.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the brides face when they have found “the one!”
What is your favourite style of wedding dress?
I like dresses that are different. Something that has never been seen before. That’s why I wore red on my wedding day!
What is the best way to incorporate "Something Blue" into the wedding outfit?
Traditionally it’s the garter but you could sew a little ribbon into the petticoat, or in your flowers or my sister but blue diamantés on the sole of her shoe. You can be really inventive.
