My experience with Heritage brides was great up until 10 minutes into our wedding, my dress BROKE! I bought and got married abroad in my ‘Gemma’ by enzoani dress which costed £1,350 from this shop (before my alterations & veil). Sadly, my left strap completely snapped off the back of my wedding dress within 10 minutes of being in it. I was obviously devastated as any bride would be & we only managed to take a few photos in my dress before I had to take it off for the rest of our day. I followed all instructions given to me by Sam with how to travel with my dress, I bought a special wedding dress box to put it in to carry as my hand luggage and I kept the dress hung on the hanging straps at all times. I was especially cautious with my wedding dress because we had a party planned for when we got home so that I could wear my dress again & celebrate with family & friends. I emailed Sam the day after we got married whilst I was still abroad to tell her my dress broke 10 minutes into our ceremony and she apologised and told me to take my wedding dress to my seamstress Wendy when I got home so that she could fix it before my party (which was planned for 5 days after we got home) Fortunately, my seamstress was able to fit me in and fixed the broken strap, she also double stitched the other strap without me even asking to ensure it wouldn’t happen again at our party, so thanks to Wendy I was able to finally wear my dress. If I hadn’t have planned a party after our wedding, I cant imagine how I would have felt knowing I would never have a chance to enjoy and wear my dress. I decided to contact the shop owner (Sam) & ask for some of the money back for my dress (which was only fully functional after being repaired) and her response was another apology and she then told me she has informed the dress designer (enzoani) of what happened. She also said in her words ‘the dress was ready to be worn at point of sale’ and ‘I don’t feel that I am in a position to offer a refund’. This is not good enough and I do not understand how this shop can not take ANY responsibility or liabilty for selling me a dress that was not fit for purpose. I would like to stress to other brides thinking about coming to this shop to be aware when buying a dress from here as if it breaks you will not get compensation or money back for it ruining one of the most important days of your life. With any other shop in this country you can return anything when its faulty, I don’t understand how this does not apply with my wedding dress which cost me £1,350. How is this company not liable for the dresses it sells?! It’s bonkers!! On this basis I would avoid buying your wedding dress from Heritage Brides.
