We chose The Plot Catering Co. to provide our wedding breakfast. Whilst the food was very tasty and in the run up to the event communication was well planned, there were a couple of things on the day that were quite disappointing and communication since has been non-existent. As such we want to provide some honest feedback on what we feel could have been improved. First and foremost, we attempted on two occasions to contact The Plot via email over a period of 4 weeks prior to making this public review, which we did not want to do at all, but we were not able to get any response. If we’d had even so much as a reply to acknowledge what had happened or apologise then we would not have written this review.
1) On multiple occasions prior to the event we were informed there would be a selection of bread rolls and butter for the tables, which is also written in The Plot’s brochure too. As such we separately rented 60 side plates for the tables. Sadly these bread rolls never materialised, nor the butter, and it was down to one of the wedding party to ask halfway through the meal where they were. When asked, one of the waitresses went away and came back to say that they’d been burned. There was no burned smell or evidence of these in the kitchen bin afterwards, so we can only assume they were forgotten. All we wanted was some acknowledgement of this, as ultimately we were left out of pocket for something not provided, which guests did notice too.
2) The portion sizes on the day were significantly smaller than at the tasting menu. This combined with the forgotten bread rolls meant guests were not full, despite it being a 3 course meal. Be aware also that the canapés are exceptionally small.
3) In an attempt to save money on what is the most expensive element of a wedding (catering) we had lovingly cut and prepared 5kgs + of strawberries ourselves to go with the cake for dessert, with clear instructions and acknowledgment that they were specifically for serving with the cake (which both Kris and Jenna said they were very happy to do). We were sad to see only a decorative couple of slices of strawberry served each, leaving 4+kgs of unused strawberries in the fridge.
4) The team of waiting staff were very friendly but very young, which without any obvious front of house leader meant initiative was not always there. The most obvious element of this was that replenishment of drinks was very sporadic and required a lot of prompting from guests.
