What is your most memorable wedding?
God this is a hard one! I think it's really hard to pick just one wedding, but if I had to pick one wedding moment it would be when I was involved in a surprise for my bride. I had to keep her busy whilst her sister flew in all the way from America - they hadn't seen each other for years and she had no idea she was coming. The table plan, favours etc had been done sneakily behind her back by her husband to be (so romantic right?). I can say there was not a dry eye in the house, including me!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, flawless, glowing, glam and timeless
What about your business are you most proud of?
Everyday I wake up and get to do a job I adore, I love being a part of people's special days and when I get that final look at the bridal party and I'm just about to leave, their happiness makes me so happy. I love being a part of people's day, but I love their happiness even more and at that point I feel really proud that I did that!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
I think my No.1 planning tip would be to plan in advance. Suppliers get booked up and even if you think that 2 years is a long time, it's not in the world of weddings. I have bookings for up to 3 years ahead, so to avoid disappointment get booked in!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love the areas where people remember those they have lost, like ladders with frames or a simple frame on seat. Its such a simple gesture, but is so heartwarming.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After initial contact and payment of the deposit to secure the date/booking is made, we arrange a convenient date for a Wedding trial to be booked in (normally 2- 3 months before the wedding). At the trial we discuss colour themes, logistics, all things beauty. We will go over skincare and what I recommend on the lead up to the wedding, we go through images of how you normally where your makeup and how you would like to look. Once happy with the trial, I write down all your details on your file and recreate the look on your wedding day. An itinerary is sent out in the week before your wedding, noting the timings for all the bridesmaids etc, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the hour before your wedding and get lots of photos. I am always on hand to speak over the phone, email or text if you have any worries on the lead up to your special day.
What do you love most about your job?
I love creating makeup that makes people feel their best self. If it's just tinted moisturiser and some bronzer, or a full face of glam, theirs nothing better than feel your best.
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Drink water!! Like mega amounts of it! Your skin will thank me later, talking about skin - a good skincare regime is essential on the lead up to your wedding and helps with makeup application.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
I've been there, I know the craziness that comes with your wedding day and being a calming presence on your day is really important. Following the itinerary as closely as possible helps keep things running smoothly, but also allowing extra time, helps take the pressure off.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
After our trial I also send over a list of products I recommend, usually a powder for an oily t-zone and lipstick to retouch, so if they wish to purchase them before the big day they can do.
