Our 2025 Wedding Report found that the average cost of a wedding in Lincolnshire and the rest of the East Midlands region is £16,788, making it cheaper than the UK average of £20,822 and significantly more affordable than London’s £28,629. In fact, that makes the entire area the cheapest in the entire UK on average, and almost £1,500 less than the second cheapest, which is Wales, where it costs an average of £18,368.
So, with picturesque locations, a huge range of venues and excellent value for money, it’s easy to see why so many couples choose Lincolnshire for their big day.
Couples who get married in Lincolnshire like to make a big deal about the natural beauty found around the area. This includes rustic and barn weddings with outdoor spaces, which can be made into fairytale settings with twinkling lights, floral arrangements and creative decor. This is evident from local couples spending the most on decor outside of London, at an average of £1,408 compared to the overall UK average of £1,271.
Similarly, during the spring and summer, couples in the region love to make the most of the parks, gardens and beaches, using them as beautiful backdrops to capture some amazing memories as part of their wedding photography package.
Couples also love to use stately home and manor house weddings as their venue, which offer a sense of timeless elegance, with venues that allow them to be treated like royalty for a day. It’s also common for couples in Lincolnshire to rely on the expertise of a wedding planner – who can actually lower wedding costs – with the average amount spent on a wedding planner in the region being £2,360, compared to the UK average of £1,892.

The average cost of a wedding venue in Lincolnshire, as well as the rest of the East Midlands, is £4,319, which is the lowest in the UK, where the overall average is £5,945. It’s also a lot less than couples pay in nearby Yorkshire, where the average cost of a venue is £7,356. So, not only can you find quality venues in Lincolnshire, but you can get them for an affordable price, too.
Lincolnshire is a popular wedding destination, thanks in part to the affordability of venues and other vendors around the area. If you’re looking to get married in the county, you’ll need to book your venue between 12 and 18 months ahead – but this could be two or more years if you want to get married during the summer or at the weekend, which is when most couples want to tie the knot.
If you’re happy to be flexible, such as by getting married during the winter or the middle of the week, you may find you can book something between six and nine months ahead. On top of this, you may find that you’ll pay less, too, as there’s less competition from other couples. Sounds like a win-win to us!
While there are coastal areas in Lincolnshire, such as Skegness and Cleethorpes, which can be hit with some gloomy weather coming in from the sea, the county has similar weather patterns to the rest of the UK.
Spring (March – May) is a lovely time of year, with blooming gardens and warm days perfect for a stroll along the seafront. Temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) in March to 16°C (61°F) in May, with occasional showers trying – but failing – to dampen the local spirit.
Summer (June – August) is the most popular time to get married in Lincolnshire, with temperatures between 18°C (64°F) and 23°C (73°F). With long daylight hours and warm weather, summer weddings in Lincolnshire are perfect for outdoor ceremonies either in the countryside or at a venue by the coast. Venues like Hanbeck Farm - Wedding Barn and Setcops Farm Cottages & Barn make for a fantastic outdoor celebration.
Autumn (September – November) sees the temperature start to drop from 17°C (63°F) in September to 9°C (48°F) in November, and the risk of rain and wind gets a little more likely, especially the closer to the coast you get. That’s why we’d recommend choosing a venue that will keep you and your guests nice and dry, like Beachcomber Cleethorpes or The Lincoln Hotel.
Winter (December – February) is perfect for intimate and atmospheric weddings, especially in countryside or inner city venues with roaring fires and warmly lit receptions. With temperatures between 2°C (36°F) and 7°C (45°F), winter weddings in Lincolnshire can be cold but beautiful, but you might want to think twice about planning photos for the beach – it’ll probably be icy cold!
Like locations across the whole of the East Midlands, Lincolnshire has some great travel links, making it easy for your wedding guests to travel to the region and make their way around.
While the county doesn’t have a major airport, East Midlands Airport (EMA) and Humberside Airport (HUY) are both within driving distance, offering flights to and from UK and European destinations.
For guests travelling by train, Lincoln Railway Station has direct services to London, Nottingham and Sheffield, while other towns like Grantham and Stamford offer fast train connections to the rest of the country.
Driving to Lincolnshire is straightforward, with the A1, A46 and A15 providing an easy route from London, the Midlands and the North. However, as Lincolnshire is a largely rural county, some venues may require extra travel planning, especially if you have a lot of guests who don’t drive.
With the likes of Lincoln, Skegness and Cleethorpes being major draws to the area, Lincolnshire offers you and your guests plenty of options when it comes to somewhere to stay.
