And if you’re choosing to consider sustainability in the planning process that can make things a lot more challenging.
If you’re newly engaged, an event planner in Winnipeg, or just curious about weddings at FortWhyte Alive, here are a few ways we can make your wedding day a little greener.
Sustainable Food
FortWhyte is proud to partner with a caterer who cares about the planet as much as we do! Spruce Catering by Diversity Food Services is our exclusive caterer on-site and prioritizes sustainability at every stage of creating your delicious meal. Not only do they work to reduce food waste but they also source their ingredients locally (sometimes even as locally as our very own FortWhyte Farms).
Looking for a special wedding favour? Our very own FortWhyte Farms offers mini honey favours filled with honey from right here on our site!
Eco-Friendly Event Spaces
If you’re searching for a space for your wedding ceremony or reception, you can’t get much more sustainable than FortWhyte Alive. With countless sustainability, energy efficiency, and waste reduction initiatives in place, FortWhyte Alive has minimal carbon output. With the opening of our brand new wedding venue and reception space, Buffalo Crossing, this year we will also be home to Manitoba’s most sustainable commercial building as well as being accessible by public transportation for the first time ever.
Stunning Settings
There’s no better backdrop for your wedding photos than nature! Instead of investing in extra decor, say your vows on our lakeside patio here in Winnipeg or climb into an electric golf cart and discover stunning locations for wedding photos you’ll love to have on your wall.
Some of our favourite locations are the forest trails (complete with leafy canopies), floating docks on our lakes, and our biodiversity garden filled with local wildflowers.
With the opening of our brand new event space and wedding venue at Buffalo Crossing, we’re thrilled to be adding more lakeside photo shoot locat
