Description
Our venue has been described as a rural gem, both in the unique style of the building and also in the warm welcome provided by the team. Bare Cotswold stone walls, gallery seating and pillars all underneath the vaulted ceiling and theatre lights – there’s no other space like it.
We seat up to 220 guests for a wedding ceremony, up to 70 for wedding breakfast and can accommodate up to 150 for drinks and dancing in your reception.
We can work with you to create the backdrop you’ve been dreaming of, or advise you on what we know works. Unlike many venues, we aren’t precious about what you can and can’t do – if we can make it work, we will!

Having the ceremony on the stage meant that everyone could see us clearly and it felt very intimate despite us having over 200 guests. The steps outside were also perfect for the RAF Guard of Honour afterwards. Everyone at the theatre was so helpful and supportive. Glenn couldn’t do enough for us to make sure it ran smoothly, including being on hand whenever we needed him on the day...Our guests absolutely loved the theatre and we’ve heard from so many people how special and unique it was. Does The Theatre allow dogs?
Yes, we love our furry friends and would love to have them be a part of your big day here, however, prior to the wedding breakfast being served, we ask that the dog leaves the premises.
And if you are choosing to include your pet in your ceremony, don’t forget to notify your registrar.
Is the venue accessible?
For those taking part in the wedding, there is level access to the Bar and Auditorium as well as our ground floor dressing room, disabled toilet, backstage, and the stage itself.
There is a staircase to get down from our stage to the auditorium, level access can be obtained by going around the outside of the building.
Will you help us find suppliers?
We have a list of amazing local suppliers we trust and that we recommend to our couples.
Do you allow corkage?
As we have our own bar here, and can source most drinks requests with enough notice we don't allow corkage.
Can we get ready at The Theatre?
Yes and you can get ready in one of our actors dressing rooms on your big day. We even have a shower if anyone was having a bad hair day!
Can we hold our Civil Ceremony/Civil Partnership on site?
Absolutely, we are fully licensed to hold up to 220 guests in our professionally lit auditorium, where you will truly be centre stage.
Do we have exclusive use of The Theatre Chipping Norton?
Absolutely, the venue is yours alone for the chosen hire time.
What parking is available?
There are free car parks no more than a 5-minute walk away. Please check the maximum stay time for each.
How can we reserve our date?
We’re happy to place your preferred date on hold for up to two weeks, during which no other bookings will be accepted for that day. This gives you time to confirm availability with the Registry Service and ensure your key guests can attend. Once everything is in place, we can proceed with the booking and secure your date with a deposit.
How many guests can we invite?
Up to 220 for the Ceremony.
Up to 70 for a seated Wedding Breakfast, or 80 for a Buffet.
Up to 150 for the Evening Party.
We have no minimum number of guests and welcome elopement or micro weddings.
