Description

The Green Estate CIC regret to announce that, as of January 2026, we will no longer be hosting weddings, parties or large-scale celebration events that require significant staffing or an alcohol licence.

The ongoing rise in living costs has had a profound impact on the hospitality sector, affecting both the demand for weddings and the cost of delivering them. The team have worked incredibly hard trying to find an alternative solution, but it has proved impossible due to a steep decline in wedding bookings and significant increases in costs. All projections we have reviewed show that this part of our business would run at a significant loss next year and as a small Community Interest Company, this would prevent us from fulfilling the objects we were set up to deliver. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision that continuing to offer this service is no longer sustainable.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated and talented staff who have contributed to making our weddings so special over the years. We are incredibly proud of the unique experiences and exceptional service we have been able to provide, and we hope that every couple and guest will look back with fond memories of their time spent with us in our beautiful setting.

We will be continuing to offer a range of hospitality and visitor experiences, whether they be our popular Monday night talks in collaboration with Friends of Sheffield Manor Lodge, access to our high-quality training and conferencing facilities and for organisations looking for their next away day. We will also be growing our programme of community, education and learning activities in our venues and green spaces including educational sessions for schools and growing community volunteering opportunities.

Perfect for all day combined ceremony and receptionPerfect for all day combined ceremony and reception
We booked Manor Lodge's DIY package for our wedding as we wanted to have a "day long" celebration with the same group of people, rather than the traditional split of guests between a ceremony and reception. The team were very supportive of us wanting to do things this way and were on hand to answer any questions over email in the year of planning. The venue and green space are beautiful and really well maintained. We made the most of all the different spaces by having out ceremony at the Turret House, drinks in the apothecary, then pub quiz, sit down meal and dancing in Manor Oaks house. The addition of the fire pit for toasting marshmallows and able to have food vans park by the house was an extra bonus. One bonus of Manor Lodge that we didn't realise until we spoke to other friends getting married is a lot of things were already included in our price, which other venues were charging as extra (eg. table linen). This made it easier to manage our budget. Lots of our guests said this was the best and most fun wedding they had been to :) Chloe was fantastic with coordinating and Maisie was super friendly and supportive on the day. There were a few hiccups in planning (which were mainly at the start of the process when we first booked) - everything was pretty smooth once the ball got rolling. Thanks for making our day so special! Perfect day from start to finish! Perfect day from start to finish!
We had our wedding day at Manor Lodge a few weeks ago now and now we are finally coming back down to Earth I wanted to share our experience. We initially didn't want a 'big' wedding but came to look around Manor Lodge at one of their open days before falling in love with the place. The whole venue, the castle ruins, the barn, firepit, lawn spaces, views over the city, everything was just so 'us' we knew we had to book in as we could just picture ourselves here. The team at Manor Lodge were so supportive, inviting us in for drop in Q&A sessions as well a more personal meeting to finalise all our details and relieve any anxiety about how the day would look. Chloe, Tia and Maisie couldn't have been more calm and attentive on the day, making everything flow seamlessly and making sure we had absolutely nothing to think about other than just enjoying our day. We had afternoon tea catered for by The Rhubarb Shed, outside catering for our evening food which was great to be able to do. All our suppliers commented on what a great venue it was. We loved the fact that Manor Lodge offered packages but these could be tweaked slightly and we still had the freedom to DIY as much as we wanted to put our own stamp on the wedding. We could not recommend Sheffield Manor Lodge more to host your wedding. As a Sheffield born and bred couple who fell in love in the city we loved the location being so local to us and all our friends and family. The team at Manor Lodge were amazing with us from the start, we had some unfortunate circumstances meaning we had to postpone our original date but they made everything so easy for us and were so caring and understanding with everything we asked for and needed. On the day of our wedding everything went smoothly and it was just perfect and everything we wanted, even the rainy day didn't bother us! The venue itself is beautiful and charming and already looks wonderful before you've even added any decorations! Just wanted to extend our warmest thanks to you and all the team at Green Estates for making our wedding day perfect. We loved every part of the day and this wouldn’t have happened without you. Words cannot express how amazing it was. We want to say a massive thank you to Chloe, for making our day run so smoothly and letting us have the best day we could’ve imagined ❤️ We had the best time, and it couldn’t have gone any better. Thank you so much again for everything, 2 years of planning went down perfectly, and now we’re finally married eek! Our day was absolutely perfect, we had a Pokemon themed wedding and the whole team loved it. A subtle touch, but it was us. The venue is absolutely stunning and we could have our own BBQ vendor setting up, and for the outdoor part of the wedding, we had a steel bath with alcohol to toast with our guests. The reception, wow! It was set up beautifully and I wish I could add more photos to show it off, but this one captures how happy we truly are. We used Sheffield Manor Lodge for our son's wedding reception and it couldn't have been better! The staff were so helpful with the organisation preparing for the big day and were great support on the day, keeping us on schedule and making sure everything ran smoothly. Manor Lodge has been just perfect for our wedding: we had the ceremony at Turret House and the reception/meal down at Manor Oaks. The flowers both at the top and bottom are a beautiful backdrop to the whole event and the team there were very good. They were so careful with all the detail, for instance: making sure we were alright throughout, but also things like reminding us we could have photos in the open door of Turret House, lighting the fake candles on the table before everyone arrived for the meal or making sure there was always some fresh milk by our 'tea point'. The fire pit in the evening was a highlight, as were the cocktails.
