Description

Sandhole Oak Barn is a countryside haven tucked away in the heart of rural Cheshire. With rolling fields, wide-open skies and a peaceful lakeside setting, it feels gloriously remote, yet wonderfully easy for your guests to reach. The whole place is yours exclusively, giving you a bespoke, relaxed celebration that feels like coming home.

The Oak Barn is bright, spacious and beautifully warm in character, with oak beams overhead and picture-perfect views in every direction. Say your vows in the Ceremony Barn with the water shimmering behind you, celebrate in the cosy Dining Barn complete with underfloor heating for snug winter weddings, or choose the magical open-air Clock Tower for a ceremony surrounded by fresh countryside air. With flexible spaces and cosy touches like underfloor heating, the venue suits every season effortlessly. You’ll also enjoy use of the Small Barn, a characterful spot perfect for pre-ceremony gathering, children’s entertainment or late-night relaxing.

Food and drink are a huge part of your day here, and our friendly in-house catering and coordination team are with you from the start to make everything feel effortless. With flexible menus, delicious seasonal dishes and the freedom to shape your meal your way, every bite feels like it's been made just for you. And arriving in spring 2026, Sandy—our olive-green H-Van—brings a whole new flavour to celebrations. This rustic outdoor kitchen adds warmth, theatre and irresistible aromas, serving everything from pre-ceremony drinks to wood-fired pizzas and sizzling BBQ feasts, creating a relaxed, sociable hub for your guests.

Exclusive use also means you have access to our refreshed Dressing Room from 9am, the cosy Shepherd Hut, and all 17 beautifully restored ensuite rooms, sleeping up to 40 guests. With exciting venue updates arriving in early 2026—including a brand-new kitchen, an inviting farmhouse-style Breakfast Room and a lovingly redesigned honeymoon suite—your day will feel even more special.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

We see so many different styles of weddings because our barn is so versatile, hence its difficult to have a favourite. However, we really love the "family weddings" where everyone is very relaxed & enjoying the extra time they can spend together with the exclusive use & the lovely onsite Sandhole Farm B&B accommodation.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't stress about the small details, your family & friends will remember watching you saying "I do" far longer than the colour of the sashes on your chairs!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

We often see a little tipi or bell tent at weddings, with lots of crafts for the children to do, supervised by some lovely ladies - the kids have a wonderful time & their parents can relax knowing they're well looked after & also enjoying the wedding.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Tranquil, bespoke, intimate, rural, idyllic.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

We have a huge range of backdrops for wedding photos, whatever the weather or season, but the one that we (& many of our couples) love the most is by the lake, especially when its complimented by the backdrop of the setting sun.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

We've seen lots of celebrity guests at our venue over the years, but the ones that most people remember were the 2 penguin ring bearers waddling down the aisle! They were used to the limelight having starred in various films & seemed to enjoy the wedding just as much as the other guests!

What’s your favourite canapé?

The Rare Angus Beef Crostini
Topped with a Spicy Red Onion Chutney has to be one of my favourites, although there are so many lovely options to choose from its very difficult to choose.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

As simple as it is, I love a bacon roll, especially when its premium bacon cooked so its a bit crispy

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Our venue is set on the shores of a large private lake - the view is constantly changing throughout the seasons & through the day. Two of my favourite times are in Autumn when the mist is just hanging over the water lit up by the rising sun, & when the oranges, pinks & reds of the setting sun are reflected in the lake & - its a stunning backdrop for wedding photos!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We're a family business & despite having hosted weddings for over 28 years (we were the first farm to offer civil ceremony weddings!), we've remained true to our ethos of putting our couples & their guests first.
