Description

The Laigh Hall with vaulted ceiling seats up to 80 guests for a civil wedding ceremony. Religious and humanist ceremonies can also take place. The Laigh Hall can be set for a seated meal for approximately 80 people and is a great space for having a ceilidh. Upstairs is the Great Hall, which can be set for a seated meal for approximately 60 people. It is also the perfect place for a buffet, or a quieter space for guests, whilst having dancing downstairs. The extraordinary Batiks, tell the story of Mary Queen of Scots, and infuse the Hall with a colourful sense of drama and history. The Guard Room is an atmospheric bar or place to sit, with it's roaring fire and 'long drop'. The Dungeon has been used as a cinema, and Queen Mary's Room is a charming space to prepare in, and to stay for a blissful wedding night. On the top floor you can have a drinks reception or night club, for those intrepid guests who like exploring. For larger weddings, a marquee can be sited in the grounds. A booking at Neidpath Castle is for the venue only, although our team are on hand to help organise your day if you should wish.

We hold two weddings a week, one arriving Tuesday and departing Thursday, the other arriving Friday and departing Sunday. The venue hire rates do change throughout the year, here is what is included in the costs for a weekend wedding: - Two nights’ accommodation for you both in the luxurious Queen Mary’s Chamber - Two nights in the adjacent Neidpath Barmkin, sleeping up to 6 guests - Exclusive use of the Castle and grounds for you to relax and enjoy your day privately with your guests - Dedicated support from one of our experienced Event Designers to help plan your day at the castle and co-ordinate with your suppliers - Luxury Continental Breakfast Hamper in Queen Mary’s Chamber for you to enjoy - A candle-lit ceremony as standard - Roaring log fires inside the Castle and Courtyard braziers for your guests to cosy round - A selection of outdoor traditional lawn games - PA system and portable speakers - Use of the family sword to cut your cake!

I’m usually a tough cookie but just thinking of our wedding day still gets me a little misty … the venue is breathtaking … we wanted to sprinkle Christmas glamour and the castle gave it to us in never ending waves .. being able to stay in the castle over the weekend and having full access to the castle and the cottages were amazing a memory in itself .. the team are outstanding they supported, helped and guided us through and made sure we had the day we and our guests will never forget I’m usually a tough cookie but just thinking of our wedding day still gets me a little misty … the venue is breathtaking … we wanted to sprinkle Christmas glamour and the castle gave it to us in never ending waves .. being able to stay in the castle over the weekend and having full access to the castle and the cottages were amazing a memory in itself .. the team are outstanding they supported, helped and guided us through and made sure we had the day we and our guests will never forget

Wow - I’m not even sure there are enough words to describe Neidpath Castle, the wonderful staff, and especially the phenomenal Sandy. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better venue. The entire experience felt like a dream - not only for us, but for our family and friends as well. Many guests even told us it was the best wedding they’d ever been to. From the very start, Ian made us feel so confident and excited about the venue that we didn’t even need to view it in person to know it was the perfect place for our wedding. From the gorgeous, candle-lit Batik Tapestry Room for dinner, to the authentic ceremony room straight out of Romeo and Juliet, all perched on the breathtaking banks of the River Tweed - every part of the castle feels special. It is truly the perfect venue for a romantic, intimate wedding steeped in history. Sandy was absolutely incredible from the planning stages through to the day itself. Every single member of my family unanimously described her as a rockstar, and they were completely right. When I say I couldn’t have done it without her, I truly mean it - our wedding would not have been half as good without her constant support, attention to detail, and, most importantly, patience with a rather indecisive young couple! She put so much heart and care into making our day truly special and genuinely felt like part of our family. From making my sister a hot toddy so she could manage her singing surprise while unwell, to coming down a muddy hill in wind and drizzle to make sure we had a glass of fizz - and that I had something warm to wrap around me during photos - just to name a few of the countless ways Sandy went above and beyond. She puts her heart and soul into what she does, and it shows. Everything ran seamlessly on the day, which we know is not always a given. This allowed us to relax, be fully present, and genuinely enjoy every moment. The venue itself was immaculate - from the glowing braziers and open fires, to the beautiful Mary’s Chambers and the cosy adjacent cottage. Not only is this the most incredible venue in Scotland and possibly the world, but the staff and service they offer is truly remarkable. Where else would you actually be treated like royalty??? You are made to feel so special and the place is your own for your entire event. The venue is pure magic. We didn’t even see it and had never been to Peebles but Sandy (who is the most wonderful person in all of Scotland) helped us with absolutely everything. From catering, to helping us plan, and bring our very unique vision to life. She always made space for us, was kind, compassionate and went the extra mile to mile. Every time! We are so grateful. Everyone who came said it was by far the best wedding they’d been to in their entire life. We came across Neidpath castle when looking online for a venue to get married in Scotland. We fell in love with the rustic glamour and booked before we’d even seen it in the flesh. The list of local recommended suppliers helped us make easy decisions. It was everything we hoped and more despite there being a yellow weather warning on our wedding day the team there were fantastic and the day ran seamlessly due to their experience and professionalism. We have nothing but praise for the venue and the team, especially Rachel who was lovely and helped us no end. The PERFECT day!The PERFECT day!
My husband (so excited to say that) can honestly say we had the PERFECT wedding at Neidpath! We eloped at the castle and were able to fully enjoy every aspect of the wedding thanks to all the careful planning and preparations made by the one and only Sandy! She helped make a day that was just for the two of us truly feel that way. She had everything ready and cleaned (and even prepped the fireplaces!) for us to use once we got in. The flowers throughout the castle were the perfect touch matching perfectly to the flowers by Rachel from the Flower Bee. She even helped carry my train down the trails to help us and our photographer, Natalie Martin, capture the perfect shots. We will definitely be back to celebrate an anniversary as soon as we can! We reached out to Ian and arranged a virtual tour—since we live in the US and were planning our wedding in Scotland without having visited beforehand—and it was fantastic. After that, we set our date, and everything fell seamlessly into place. Rachel, who worked with us on the details of our day, was an absolute joy from the very beginning. She is genuinely one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people I’ve ever met, and she went above and beyond to ensure every detail reflected what we had envisioned. Her warmth, professionalism, and dedication made the planning process not only easy but truly enjoyable. Everyone we spoke to about the castle kept telling us that no photo or virtual tour could ever do the castle justice—and the moment we stood before its doors, we knew they were right. Our wedding weekend at Neidpath Castle was nothing short of magical. Staying in Queen Mary’s Chamber was a dream. It felt like we were transported back in time, surrounded by centuries of history, yet wrapped in total comfort and luxury. We blindly booked this venue in hopes that it would be exactly what we wanted. And let me tell you, it surpassed our wildest dreams. The historic details of the room were beyond captivating. From the ancient stone walls and original wooden beams to the antique furnishings, every inch of the chamber told a story. The stone fireplace was absolutely beautiful and made our evenings feel cozy, romantic, and unforgettable. Sitting by the fire in such a historic space felt surreal, like sharing a moment with the past. We found ourselves sitting in awe taking in every moment of this extraordinary experience. Everything was impeccably clean, thoughtfully arranged, and tastefully preserved to maintain the charm of the castle while providing modern comfort. The breakfast hampers delivered each morning were a delight. They were full of fresh, delicious local goods that we looked forward to each day. It was the perfect way to start our mornings before wandering the castle grounds. Exploring the castle itself was an adventure we’ll never forget. We discovered a real stone well, tucked away like something out of legend, and even descended into the original dungeon—spooky and fascinating all at once. The top floor history room was filled with captivating information, and we loved that there were two separate entrances leading up to stunning rooftop views of the surrounding hills and River Tweed. And of course, the bar room, with its cozy ambiance and quirky charm, was the perfect place to gather with loved ones—complete with the original castle toilets that had us all grinning. Every nook and cranny of Neidpath tells a story, and it was a joy to explore it all. From the sweeping views of the River Tweed to the kind, attentive staff, every part of our experience was flawless. As an LGBTQ+ couple, we felt genuinely welcomed and celebrated, which made our time there even more meaningful. Travel Notes

From Edinburgh and the north, go to Peebles. Go right at the roundabout towards ‘Town Centre’ and ‘Glasgow’. Go through the High Street and at the end of it, turn right in front of the church steps. Follow this road out of Peebles and up a hill. Neidpath Castle is about 100 yards from the end of the speed limit, on your left. From the south, take the M6 to the A74M. At Exit 15, take the A701 to Moffat. Carry on through Moffat on the A701 and continue for about 22 miles. Just before Broughton, take the right turn onto the B712 to Peebles. Go through Drumelzier and Stobo and then turn right at the T junction, onto the A72 towards Peebles. Pass a quarry on your left and then a white cottage on your right. The road then does a series of sharp bends after which Neidpath is on your right (there is a sign for it just before).
