We absolutely recommend having your wedding at the Mackays hotel Murray and Ellie are an absolute class act! Initially in our planning we were unsure where we wanted to get married, this was mainly as we live in Caithness however have no family here. We visited a fair number of venues around the highlands and nowhere really felt right.. As soon as we met Ellie and subsequently Murray at the Mackays hotel we were sold. Ellie and Murray are obviously masters of their craft. Their experience coupled with their genuine passion make them the best team to have when organising a wedding (or I imagine any event!) This was clear from the get go. On meeting Ellie and Murray they were so welcoming, warm and calm. This made us feel so much less daunted by the prospect of what we are trying to organise and made everything feel manageable. Ellie and Murray walked us through everything and provided us with so much insight and guidance. This was great as we were genuinely clueless. The hotel were so flexible and facilitating of what wet wanted, this allowed us to fully customise the day to what we wanted. For us, this was the outside ceremony in the gardens at the beautiful Langhills followed by dinner and the reception within the hotel. We also both stayed with our respective wedding parties in the hotels apartments which was so handy! Murray and Ellie kept us on track and organised in the lead up to the date which actually made the whole planning process seamless and stress free. The wedding itself was flawless. From the moment we arrived to drop off decorations to when we left on wedding Boxing Day, we felt like the guests of honour at the hotel. Everyone who works at the hotel was so helpful and lovely. At no point over the weekend did we think about any logistics as we ere so assured Murray and Ellie’s knowledge and understanding of what we wanted. Our whole families felt so welcome at the hotel and were looked after so well. Everything ran without a hitch with Murray, Ellie and Jan keeping things right and supporting us with anything we needed throughout. We will definitely be coming back for the food as well! It’s absolutely amazing! We actually cannot thank Ellie, Murray, Jan and everyone at the Mackays hotel more. IT WAS THE BEST WEEKEND!

From the moment Beth and I came to look at your venue for our wedding, we knew that Mackay’s hotel was the venue for us, both Ellie and Murray were superb throughout the planning and always kept us right, from the day we booked until the big day itself, we and our guests had the most amazing time, the staff were always on hand and very professional, the food was delicious and everything went perfect, me and Beth could not be happier with how everything went, we would seriously encourage others to book Mackay’s hotel as their wedding venue, the best day of our lives. Part of Mackays Hotel, this yummy restaurant makes up for its small address with a big menu. As well as serving up everything from fish and chips to buttermilk fried chicken burgers, it would sure make for a good story to say you had a meal on the world's smallest street.

My husband and I have just come back from driving the North Coast 500 route in Scotland and stopped off at Mackays Hotel in Wick for three nights. We had a lovely time! All of the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. The food was excellent quality. We highly recommend the hotel and will stop again in the future.

We attended a wedding reception at the hotel recently and couldn’t have been more impressed. The staff, food, facilities and organisation were all top class. Would happily return for a proper stay some time.

Stayed at Mackays from Friday until Monday in May for a wedding. Lovely hotel and I have to say the menu was brilliant and the meals themselves were beautiful.

Absolutely amazing service. All the staff went out of their way to make us feel special. We were celebrating our engagement and every staff member we dealt with congratulated us, even bringing over a special dessert and posting our picture. My fiancé told them and they had chilled Prosecco in our room. The breakfast is world class!

Great value for money, very friendly staff and excellent hospitality and service. We enjoyed the welcome sweets/wee drams in our room! Dinner at the Bistro was excellent and we had a great breakfast in the morning, too. The staff were very welcoming to us and our dogs and we'd recommend the hotel to anyone. It also has the perk of being situated on the world's shortest street!

This hotel has the old school charm, in the best way possible. It's so refreshing to be in a hotel that not just pays lip service to guest service, but actually means it. Hotel is next to River Wick in a very good location, the staff are top notch & attentive, room was very clean (appreciate the complimentary tipple) & spacious. The breakfast was very good, the staff on service were extraordinary. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

What a lovely experience at Mackays - a charming hotel with friendly staff and great food. Stayed here for one night on our tour of Scotland’s North Coast and couldn’t be happier. The rooms are a good standard and there’s a nice little bar downstairs to enjoy a drink before dinner. We brought our dog with us and they couldn’t have been more accommodating - even bringing a plate of sausages for dinner and breakfast. Special mention to Fiona for her warm welcome & hospitality. Highly recommended!
