This unique building was originally the Cottage Hospital for Port Sunlight Village, serving the needs of employees of Lever Brothers, and their families. It was opened in 1907 and operated as a hospital until 1950 when it became a residential conference and training venue for senior staff at Unilever. The building and grounds were acquired by Contessa Hotels in 2006 who extensively refurbished and extended the property whilst retaining the essential character of the building. Contessa's expertise created a finely tuned blend of classic and contemporary influences resulting in a stunning hotel which opened to critical acclaim following its restoration in 2008.
