Charming Historic Venue for Weddings, Art & Dining
Really fabulous old country house, large red sandstone building, designed as a college for artist and designers, away from the big cities. Available for weddings and other events also with studio space for photography and artists they hold poetry and writing events. A café and restaurant serves a range of delicious food, beautifully presented.

What a joy
We visited Hospitalfield to explore the gardens and enjoy a light lunch. On a warm day, we were seated outside under a large parasol by an attentive server. A carafe of water and glasses were promptly provided without us asking. Despite a busy kitchen, our server took our complex orders with ease, and all dishes arrived quickly, exactly as requested, and freshly prepared. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Overall, a fantastic visit!

Interesting
On our way to Arbroath Abbey, we stopped by this historic house. We could only view it from the outside, as tours are only available during limited times of the year. Now an arts centre, the site was founded in the 13th century by abbey monks. The Fraser family later owned it and made significant renovations. The Gothic house is beautiful, and while the garden is still developing, the dedicated gardeners are transforming it. Don’t miss the Eduardo Paolozzi sculpture and the charming café!

Celebrate Your Love Amidst History and Art
The historic Walled Gardens at Hospitalfield have been redesigned to reflect 800 years of horticulture and now include a restored 19th-century Fernery—an ideal and atmospheric spot for wedding photos. Perfect for art lovers or creative couples, this venue offers a unique setting for your ceremony and celebrations. Due to the venue’s precious nature, weddings are limited, so it's best to enquire early to secure your date if you’re set on this special place.
