Hallington Mill hosted our wedding in early September and we can’t say thank you enough to Elizabeth and Rob for making our day the most wonderful and special wedding day.
I would also caveat this review with the fact that I am not a reviewer and I write this because of the exceptional experience we have had.
THE MILL
The Mill itself is beautiful. All rooms are large and thoughtfully finished in keeping with the historical building and the communal areas are perfect for big family gatherings and meals. The dining room is particularly stunning and has to be seen in person!! There is a perfectly placed wood burner and the whole house has a cozy feel with multiple rooms all with really lovely views. The outside is equally as striking with a large patio, surrounded by woods and Northumberland countryside. The back garden catches the afternoon and evening sun and is perfect (as we found) for bbqs and sitting with family and friends. There is a children’s play area, which kept our exceptionally active god children (and to be honest most of our wedding party) busy, but it’s off to the side so you can keep the children in eye sight, but it doesn’t spoil the beautiful tumbling view from the patio. If walking is also on your list, Elizabeth and Rob have managed the woods and surrounding fields in such a way so you can ramble around and see the incredible views without having to venture too far. The fields have, again, been thoughtfully cultivated and are full of wild flowers, native plants and bubbling creeks. The area is also on the edge of the national dark sky reserve and the sky is BRIGHT at night. It is honestly a truly stunning place with a relaxing and homely feel.
With the wedding you have sole use of the Mill, Barn, Hay Shed & Land from the day before your wedding so plenty of time to prep and set up. We had a lovely pre-wedding family dinner on the Friday. There’s so much space we had multiple making and sorting areas and it make for lovely getting ready photos!
Whilst rural, we found Corbridge really easy to get to and there are two restaurants that we found would deliver if you called! All of our guests found the Mill easily and most said the drive there (which is AMAZING!) really set the scene for the wedding and added to the excitement!
THE WEDDING
The Mill is the most beautiful blank canvas. We fell in love with it the second we visited and had planned a relaxed style wedding with food vans and lawn games. The Mill has a number of locations for different aspects of the day (woods, wild flower meadows and fields looking out over the countryside) and so you can make the day as bespoke as you like. Elizabeth was so helpful in providing recommendations and referrals to local vendors and many of those who we spoke to had been to the Mill to view the same so they knew what we were talking about. Elizabeth made what seemed like a mammoth task, so much easier and more fun and her emails checking in and sending updates kept us pepped and going, and we named her our wedding fairy in our speeches.
Elizabeth was there every step of the way, again not only providing logistical help, talking through our different options.
The wedding was quite frankly perfect. We used the back garden and with help from a number of vendors, (Birdcages and Butterflies - decor, Jacob & Tori - catering, Northumbria Classic Cars), we were able to have the perfect wedding. The Mill grounds not only gave a beautiful backdrop but some of our flowers and our table decs (so much ivy) were from the Mill grounds. Elizabeth and Rob were quietly and invisibly on hand throughout the lead up and the day to provide anything we needed and the day went without a hitch!
Again we cannot thank Elizabeth and Rob enough for not only providing such excellent accommodation but also helping to make our wedding day so incredible!!!
We can not recommend highly enough!
