Built in 1710, as a private manor home for the Gretna Estate, Gretna Hall Hotel, has been hosting weddings since the late 18th century. An affluent home turned coaching inn, Gretna Hall attracted a host of wealthy runaways, including Lords, Earls and those of royal bloodlines.
Hosting two to 80 guests weddings over three wedding rooms, with packaged all-inclusive wedding offers, including use of the Famous Blacksmiths Shop wedding venue.

As the wedding manager at Gretna Green, I have the immense pleasure of helping couples take the next step in their happily ever after! And yes, I've even had my own wedding here! At Gretna Green Ltd, we proudly own three iconic sites: the Famous Blacksmiths Shop, Gretna Hall, and Smiths Hotel. These venues are the only autheic Gretna Green venues where you can get 'Gretna Green' on your wedding certificate!

It's too hard to pick one, but one of the most memorable moments was when we lent a couple a staff member's ring as they had forgotten theirs! It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to them!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Absolutely, stick to your budget! It's easy to get carried away with all the bells and whistles of wedding planning, but keeping a close eye on your budget makes sure that you enjoy the journey of booking your dream day without the stress!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Again, too many great ideas to name - one that warms my heart was a photo of the bride's grandma in a locket was wrapped around her bouquet so that she walked her down the aisle - as she promised.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The iconic Anvil shot! All of our Gretna Green anvils have been said to give all who touch them good luck of the heart. It's a must for capturing that extra touch of magic on your special day!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Four our history fans - on 7th May 1836, Prince Carlo Ferdinando Bourbonne, (Prince of the Two Sicilies and Prince of Capua), married Penelope Cardine Smythe. Prince Carlo was a younger brother of Ferdinand II of Naples (King of Naples from 1495 to 1496).
What’s your favourite canapé?
Anything with haggis!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
In Scottish tradition a wee tipple before bed!

Our venues are the only place you can get 'Gretna Green' on your wedding certificate!

Our team work! Here at Gretna Green Ltd we own three sites - the Famous Blacksmiths Shop, Gretna Hall and Smiths Hotel. We could not help create couples dream weddings without team work!
