Hosting only a handful of weddings each year, our picture-perfect backdrop is truly exclusive and an ideal choice for celebrations from spring to early autumn. Offering venue-only hire, we work with you and your chosen suppliers to create a unique and memorable day.
Stroll through the gardens to our Gothic Orangery, perfect for an intimate ceremony, or for a larger guest list, walk up the aisle in our grand Victorian Billiard Room with its impressive lantern ceiling; or choose a ceremony on the Well-Head Lawn for a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Once you've tied the knot, enjoy drinks on the topiary lawn against the south front of the Hall, in the Orangery or in the newly restored Coach House. You and your guests will have the whole garden to explore during the afternoon with countless spots for truly memorable photographs.
For your wedding breakfast, the Billiard Room seats a party of 50. For a larger guest list, you are welcome to host your celebration in a marquee in our Parkland with spectacular views across the fields and of our elegant historic building.

We are so glad we did. The venue feel intimate, yet there are so many places to explore. For our wedding, we hired both the Billiard Room and the Coach House. The Billiard Room was a perfect space for dinner, speeches, and with the overhead windows, it was a very 'light' space. The Coach House was newly renovated, and was the PERFECT place for our disco and made a great dancefloor. There is a little side room that was a great place for our mobile bar. From a logistical point of view, the whole venue 'flows' perfectly for a 50 person wedding. The drinks reception was held in the 'secret garden' (self-dubbed) with a bar and guitarist set up in the orangery. The atmosphere was wonderful. We loved this venue, and our day was so special, but I think testament to the uniqueness of this venue was that EVERY one of our vendors were in awe of this as a proper (old cliché) 'hidden gem'. Our photographer and videographer couldn't get enough of the gardens, the beautiful backdrop while everyone mingled. What we loved some much, was that the Proby family and Vivienne really made us feel 'part of the family' for the time we were arranging. If you are a little put off by a 'corporate' wedding venue, then this is the perfect place. We rearranged our venue to Elton Hall after some difficulties with our previous venue during the pandemic. It's amazing gardens and hall was picture perfect for us. Myself and my new husband had the best day ever. The only thing we are sad about was the day going so quickly. The team at Elton was spot on. Very friendly and helpful, I couldn't have asked for better people to lean on when we had questions and for the day to go without a hitch.. the only hitch we had was to get married and that was the best thing of all. Elton Hall is located in picturesque countryside on the Cambridgeshire/Northamptonshire border, not far from Peterborough, Oundle and Stamford and within easy reach of the the A1 and rail links.

It has been family home for over 450, and remains so today, giving it a warmth and personality which we love to share with our couples and their guests.
What ceremony locations are available at Elton Hall?
Your choice will depend on the size of your guest list and we welcome both Cambridgeshire Registrars or your choice of Celebrant.
There is the Gothic Orangery, perfect for intimate ceremonies; the light-filled, recently restored Coach House or the grand Victorian Billiard Room with its impressive lantern ceiling. Weather permitting, we love to hold ceremonies on the Well-Head Lawn with our impressive South Front as the backdrop.
Can Elton Hall accommodate both small and large wedding celebrations?
Yes, it's your choice. Elton Hall caters to intimate weddings in the Orangery or Coach House. For larger celebrations, the Billiard Room or a marquee can be set up in the Parkland offering spectacular views of the historic building and surrounding parkland.
Is outdoor space available for wedding celebrations at Elton Hall?
Absolutely. After the ceremony, you and your guests can enjoy drinks on the Topiary lawns or in the Orangery with exclusive access to wander the entire garden during the afternoon. And, of course, you will be spoilt for choice for beautiful spots for memorable photographs.
What is the seating capacity of the Billiard Room for a wedding breakfast?
The Victorian Billiard Room at Elton Hall seats up to 50 guests comfortably for your wedding breakfast, providing an elegant and historic environment.
Can we choose our own caterer for the wedding at Elton Hall?
Elton Hall allows you to bring your chosen catering supplier with no corkage charge, giving you the flexibility to personalize your wedding dining experience. We have a number of caterers who have worked well with us in the past and we will be happy to suggest those if you wish.
During which seasons does Elton Hall typically host weddings?
Elton Hall is an ideal choice for celebrations from spring to early autumn so you can take greatest advantage of the lovely gardens. That doesn't mean to say we can't host weddings in the late autumn and winter but it does need to be a smaller party.
Are there opportunities for wedding photography at Elton Hall?
Honestly, you really will be spoilt for choice. It's a photographer's dream. The magical building and lovingly restored, landscaped gardens give lots of opportunities for you to find a never-before used corner just for you.
Is Elton Hall suitable for exclusive, private wedding celebrations?
Definitely. Elton Hall is exclusive in every sense. We host only a handful of weddings annually, by choice, and on the day our focus will be entirely on your wedding.
