Cissbury Barns

We just got married at Cissbury Barns and what can we say – we had the most incredible day! Despite the rainy, windy weather, everything ran like clockwork – both us and our guests were so well looked after, and the day could not have been coordinated more smoothly! From the moment we chose Cissbury as our venue, we couldn’t have asked for more. Helen was an incredible help right from the outset, offering us lots of guidance and advice, putting our minds at rest when we asked (many..!) questions, and reassured us when we wanted to blend some Assyrian traditions with a very English wedding!! Helen handed over the reins to Zoe in the evening who was an absolute delight – so lovely and helpful, and coordinated our Assyrian dancing entrance which is no mean feat! The setting and the barns are absolutely beautiful – but the real stars are the whole team that work behind the scenes to make your wedding day the best EVER! From moving all our décor around between ceremony and dinner to make the most of our flowers, to laying out all our centrepieces, to checking in on us to ensure we didn’t want for anything, to carefully packing up ALL of our bits the next day for an easy-peasy collection – everything was just perfect, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Cissbury! A special mention to the North Wing Apartment which is located on site by Cissbury House – this is such a stunning place to get ready in with your bridesmaids and spend your first night as a married couple! We would highly recommend booking this if you’re getting married at Cissbury, just knowing you’re only a 5 minute drive away from your wedding venue takes the pressure off, and Geoffrey and the team at the barns communicated really well with us and each other! I didn’t want to do our review out of superstition. We got married a year ago on the 18th August 2023. The staff are fantastic and the venue is beautiful. Our host Michelle did everything possible for us. A credit to the business. She is kind attentive and truly went above and beyond to make our day special. The venue truly offers everything and it’s in a lovely private location. Jodi says still a year on says she wishes she could do it all over again. Thank you so much

We got married at Cissbury Barns in August 24. The venue is absolutely stunning and the staff are incredible. It was the most amazing day and I can’t thank the team at Cissbury enough for everything they did to make our wedding run so smoothly. They really took care of everything.

We just had the most amazing wedding at Cissbury Barns. From day one Helen, Michelle and Christina have been nothing but welcoming and helpful. On the actual day Helen coordinated it perfectly, listening to everything we had asked for and checking in regularly to make sure we were happy with how everything was going. In the evening Helen passed over to Zoe who was equally as helpful. The barns themselves and the surrounding areas are absolutely stunning, we had so many compliments about the venue with the guests commenting that they could see why we had fallen in love with it. I’f you are considering getting married here we can’t recommend it highly enough, you won’t be disappointed.

We had the most wonderful wedding at Cissbury, the day we dreamed of. Everything was seamless and it made the day so relaxing for us, as absolutely everything ran smoothly and we were so well taken care of. All of the worries we had beforehand about ‘will this go well?’, ‘where do we go?’ Etc were needless as the team thinks of everything. Even meeting the team before I walked down the aisle I was given a glass of water and told when to enter - something I’d never have thought to arrange or ask for but just happened! I can’t thank the team at Cissbury enough for making our day so beautiful.

After many months of looking at venues online, I narrowed it down to several options. Cissbury was the first venue I went to visit, and after meeting Helen, I had pretty much made up my mind that this was the venue for us. Cissbury is a unique and amazing venue , there’s two barns, there’s flexibility in catering options, no corkage, stunning countryside views, did I mention TWO BARNS?! Cissbury ticks every single box and the backdrop of the South Downs is beautiful. But I must give a special mention to Helen, possibly the world’s greatest event coordinator. Not only did Helen kept our day running smoothly, Helen was there for all my annoying questions in the 18 months up to the wedding. Helen is such a joy to talk to, her positivity really kept me going when faced with any problems in the planning stages, I honestly don’t know how I would have done it all without her. I should also mention the other ladies in the team, Michelle and Christina, were also fantastic in the times I spoke to them. The team here really is unlike any other venue, and having them on your side is what makes Cissbury such a special place. They are all so lovely, but also very knowledgeable, and are always on hand to offer sound advice and give their honest opinions. Our day was perfect, start to finish. We had non-stop compliments on the venue, everyone loved it. Choosing Cissbury was the best decision we made for our wedding, it was such an incredible day. Thank you Cissbury team for everything, it really was the best day of our lives. Also a quick mention to Geoffrey and Etta, the owners, and for our lovely stay at the North Wing apartment. We would highly recommend booking this beautiful apartment if you are getting married at Cissbury!

Thank you to everyone at Cissbury for an amazing day. It was everything we dreamed of and more. We had so many comments about how beautiful the venue was and how great the staff were. The fact that our furry friend could be with us on our day was very special too. Right from the first moment we visited Cissbury, we knew this was our venue. Understatedly beautiful, the character in the flint and the barns was exactly what we wanted. Somewhere that can be dressed up or dressed down. We kept with simple styling to not distract from what drew us to the barns. The surrounding area makes for some beautiful photos, we only have previews back from our photographer so far and we can’t wait to see the rest. Michelle and all the lovely Cissbury staff were so helpful. Answering questions and being a really support in the planning, lead up and on the day.

From the minute we met Helen, and then when we met Michelle as our event manager, we felt so confident that they would help us to deliver the most magical day, and they certainly did! Thank you Helen for the fantastic tour at the very start, answering all my questions throughout, and putting up with me rocking up to the open days to test my decor. Michelle, Thank you for so perfectly executing my vision and all your expertise to make it even better. You truly went above and beyond! Our wedding day went PERFECTLY, and it was all thanks to the team at Cissbury - even Geoffrey (the owner), helping me to remember all my things, when I almost forgot my flowers and veil! We were lucky enough to get married at Cissbury Barns back in April, and managed to have our dream setting of being outdoors in the Glade. Honestly, it is the most perfect place to get married with such a supportive and caring events team on hand throughout, in our case led by Helen. The owners Geoff and Etta were also on hand to help support throughout and were ever so accommodating. If you are looking for a secluded venue nestled in the South Downs, offering both a spectacular indoor and outdoor wedding option, then Cissbury is the place to be and we couldn't recommend it more.

Thank you Michelle for making our wedding the best it could possibly be! You made us feel so relaxed the week before, covering all those little details & just being there on the end of the phone at any time was everything! Your attention to detail was top class, making sure the button holes were put on correctly & having that glass of water which I desperately needed after 2/3 glasses of sparkling wine in the morning! The whole day was seamless and nothing was too much trouble. Cissbury Barns is in the most beautiful setting & the barns themselves are stunning, we chose to have our ceremony inside as it was too cold on the day & we weren’t disappointed, it felt intimate with beautiful lighting & soft drapes hanging from the beams. The venue is perfect!
