FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Oh, that’s such a tricky one! We honestly love all of the weddings that take place here, it’s a bit like asking a parent to pick their favourite child. Each celebration is so unique and special in its own way. From intimate gatherings in our gardens to grand ballroom receptions, every wedding brings its own magic and memories, and we feel so lucky to be part of them all.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Sometimes less is more. With a grand ornate building like ours, we think any decor should serve to complement the venue. This certainly helps when budgeting also, as you may find you can get away with hardly any decor, as the rooms are impressive on their own.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

I think you are always in for a treat when the bride and groom have choreographed a dance routine with a live band and/or choir. You have to be there to understand the atmosphere, especially as the Great Hall has excellent acoustics.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Palatial, Historic, Luxury, Grand, Exclusive

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Honestly, the best photo spot? That’s another tricky one- it depends on the story you want to tell! With 10 beautiful rooms included in the hire, plus our newly refurbished honeymoon suite, each space has its own character and story to tell. Some are perfect for morning preparations, others for romantic portraits, and a few for those dramatic evening shots. Essentially, every corner of the Palace has its own magic – so the best photo spot is really… wherever your love story takes you!

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

To name a few we've had HM The Queen, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Irons, Dominic West, Ben Kingsley, Rowan Atkinson, Salma Hayek, Kate Moss, Ronny Corbett, Ian Wright and there's plenty more we could tell you about!

What’s your favourite canapé?

Citrus-cured sea bass on blinis with ossetra caviar and crème fraîche.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Champagne and caviar Darling!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The building itself is no doubt the hero in this story. Which is why we give you exclusivity over the house and grounds to providing you one of the most unique wedding experiences imaginable, in having your own Palace for the day.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Undoubtedly it's the history of the building which starts in the Saxon era, first recorded in the Domesday Book. There are nearly 1000 years of visitors, from Kings and Queens to everything in between. If you want to learn more, check out our history page on our website. We're embarking on a project right now to publish the most in-depth article ever on the Palace and can't wait to share it with you!
