What is your most memorable wedding?
a 5 day wedding in the heart of India.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, fun, intimate, candid, relaxed
What about your business are you most proud of?
I'm happy with my flexibilty and more importantly, my genuine love of and commitment to photography. I feel this comes across in my work.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
meet your photographer! Study their work! Find that extra 100 pounds if your heart tells you that "this is the one", you wont regret it.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
cards which are filled in by guests with a personal invitation to the finder of the card (the cards are attached to ballons and released) to write back to a temporary email to say where the card was found and with a personal message to the couple. It could go wrong I guess but its a novel idea!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I always meet the couple. This is crucial. I go through their day, make any suggestions I can think of but most importantly, subtly ensure that my myself and my work is what they are really after. I dont do hard sell....its pointless. I want to be comfortable and enjoy the day as much as the client and if we are all on the same page then this will generally be the case....and it shows in the work.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A good, naturally candid fun and intimate portrait of themselves.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
A couple being attacked by three hundred zombies in Piccadilly circus.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
umbrellas and a philosophical attitude.
Describe how you got into photography.
I fell in love with photography, hook line and sinker, or film, dev, and darkroom over 26 years ago in Lisbon. I am a street photographer through and through. I picked up a battered old album of street photography at a Lisbon flea market and after leafing through it decided on the spot....."I want to do this". Ive never looked back and I bring much of this street photography style to my work as any past client will happily confirm.
