The River Block in Bookpurnong, situated on the Murray River, provides a genuine waterfront wedding experience and great views of South Australian nature.

This wedding venue is a dry-hire, meaning you get exclusive access to the property and all facilities. You choose and hire other vendors for food, drinks, decor, etc. The venue is flexible about third-party vendors but offers its list of preferred suppliers if you don’t know where to start.

Also, there is enough space for six people to stay and get ready on the River Block so you don’t have to search for accommodation for the wedding night.

Distinctive Beach Wedding Venue River Block

River Block spans 24 acres of land, featuring cliffs viewpoints, native shrubs, trees and bushlands, flat paddocks available for camping and a historic building – the Homestead.

The Homestead is one century old and has recently been restored to become a practical facility for wedding celebrations at River Block. It has kitchen facilities, three bedrooms, living and dining areas.

Additionally, there is a riverfront shed where most weddings happen with plenty of outdoor locations for ceremonies. The shed features double doors, cement flooring and rear access. Around it, you can find several gravelled areas with fire pits and options for outdoor catering or bar sites.

Wedding Packages at River Block

Instead of focusing on a one-day experience, River Block provides packages covering several days in this idyllic setting. Package 1 features:

4-day venue hire for set up, wedding day and cleanup
4-night accommodation for six people
Use of catering facilities and wine barrels, umbrellas and iron bar
Rights to rent a marquee
Toilets

Package 2 is available for 50 guests and includes a 2-day stay in the venue with access to all facilities.

Alternatively, you can rent more items for your reception directly from the venue, such as:

Please note that toilets are included in package 1, and if you plan to stay two days you'll have to rent toilets from the venue or third-party supplier.
